As long as the mechanic is usable, I would like to see horses in as soon as possible. Currently bugs are pretty inevitable, I would rather get it out to the public sooner in an attempt to expedite the process of resolving said bugs.

It also would appease the playerbase to have a shiny new toy to work with :)

I always wanted to ride a bug!

Ok, seriously... if these bugs does not make the game unplayable AND it could be usefull to You (devs) player's experience and reports, I say OK. Otherwise I can wait for it.

Question 1. Does this feature/bug hurt/hinder new players entering the game, the lifeblood to sustain the game long term?

If it's not going to drive new players away, lets get more features in!!!

Will some of these bugs "break the large stable?" If so, then no.

I agree. If it will jack with the stability of the game itself then I would wait. But if the mechanic is bugged unto itself then drop that bad boy and see what we are working with. I mean hell how long did we deal with buggy shields and now you guys did a wonderful job last patch with them (save for the reach of a shield bash ;) )

If it's delayed, give us something else...anything. Player population will die completely out if not..

If the horses are actually 'ride able" and there is no serious issues, then you guys might as well put this up right away since we are in a early access game.

Then again if it actually make server crashes because it might be possible, then I can wait until the end of June.

i don't understand why you think if they hold back a patch till its more ready will make the game die off or lose people its alpha i would rather they take their time and get stuff right the first time then it be just thrown out there half broken its a few more weeks its not like its months away we can wait

If the game keeps introducing broken stuff to players who have actually paid for the game then you are going to keep losing player base. Players who volunteered to be here testing an alpha game going through a screening process is completely different than players who paid the same price of a working game with the understanding they were testing it. Yes people are told up front that this is an alpha game game blah blah blah. What you get when people pay for the game is people wanting to play the game and not spend day after day testing, doing bug reports going through countless wipes and playing a game with so many bugs that the game is (for me personally) not enjoyable. You can say until you are blue in the face that people knew going into the game it was in alpha. They still expect to play the game and have fun while testing for the amount they had to pay. Also September is fast approaching and it is my understanding that is supposed to be a release date. I'm guessing at that point the excuse this is alpha will be out the door. I think I enjoyed the game more when I first started than when some of the new stuff came out because so many things have been "broken". Of all the years I have tested games the one statement that rings most in my mind is fix stuff that is broken before putting out more stuff that you will also have to fix. As a tester I want to see those broken systems fixed before new features are put into the game.

Anyway that's my two cents on the topic.

Mickey... all that bitching is PART of Alpha. Your NOT paying for a finished game, your PAYING to take part in testing. God, people need to learn to read.. They put stuff into the game broken, we review and try to break it more, they fix it, and we move on, thats the point of testing. Your expecting them to Alpha test THEN give to us, and thats not how it works. Please read the disclaimer on your game:

“DO NOT BUY this game unless you want to support the development of something really new and original in the sandbox genre. You will encounter bugs along with various other issues in playtesting. This is Early Access Alpha and your support, understanding and becoming involved with the development process will be something remembered as we move on towards the Beta stage and then on to the final Release version.

We want your feedback and support with the testing and balancing of our current systems. Gameplay improving suggestions are strongly encouraged and direct interaction with the dev team will be a normal part of the development cycles.

We have communicated clearly that the game is not in a finished state, but you can judge for yourself that we have more gameplay content than most games that consider themselves a released final product.

Unlimited terraforming combined with a free building system, innovative combat formation systems, physics based melee combat, alchemy, skill cap and stat cap systems. We think by playing you will begin to see just how deep the rabbit hole goes with creative and exciting gameplay opportunities.

Thank you in advance! You’re awesome and without you this gaming opportunity would not have been developed!”

No I'm expecting them to fix the existing game mechanics before putting in more stuff that doesn't work. I realized when I bought the game it was in testing. Now months later the game is actually less enjoyable than when I first bought it because several patches have actually made mechanics almost unbearable to even test. The entire durability/quality system to me is whack. The structures for crafting are not even usable any more. The entire farming line is so much work now that most of the players I played with won't even touch that part of the game now. I expect new systems of the game to have problems. However, other systems need to be fixed before moving on.

Actually its compleatly opposite... YOU ARE paying for the finished game, but you do so before the game is finished and can take part in its development. Thats what early axcess games are all about.

The problem with this is that its almost sertain that when adding new stuff the old stuff is affected meaning adding stuff will add more bugs because how things interract with each other under the hood...
So adding new stuff when its ready is good thing because then you can see how it works with the old stuff.

    For the main topic:
If the horses are usable and you can most of the time ride/use them without problems then put them in, BUT if they are constantly bugging out and your unable to use them most of the time then i would suggest trying to fix the major bugs and test them internally before adding them to the open version...
Because like many have allready said, even though its alpha, its still important to have somewhat working game for new people that buy the game and then try to play it only to forget it forever after a terrible experience.

I agree with various other comments about delaying the horses while either implementing another feature or fixing something currently in-game, such as the road textures.

Personally, I'd love to see horses in game and think it would be a great feature, bugs or no bugs. However I can't help but agree with what numerous people are saying about server population decreasing.

In fairness, I only bought the game recently but there does seem to be a serious lack of players online at any given time. Perhaps that's just due to the game still being in alpha but nonetheless maybe it would be better trying to attract more people to the game rather than increase support from those who already own and enjoy it.

That's my opinion on it anyway. :)
