I really like the drawbridge concept. I was thinking about trying something like that.

What I am also thinking is how to make a soil ramp up to the top of our palisades from inside the base, so we can ride out on our horses and jump over our wall without having to open/close the gates to get out while on our horse.

Any screenshots of something like that would be great.
