Announcing the Duchy Of Wessex Public Accessible Server

I guess I should have posted this here as well. Since we have several non-official changes on our server. No client-side mods yet, but we are looking at them.

Features
  • Random Loot Generator – When killed by a player, random generated loot will drop in the players gravestone. This can range from low value (a sack), to high value (Vostaskus Ingot, exclusive jewelry). There are some limitations to limit abuse, but for the most part players killing players will receive something for their efforts. We do this to offset not being able to open sacks/carts/other containers on claimed land.
  • Expanded Death Table – Player deaths and knock-outs are recorded in the database. We go one better by recording current guild information as well.
  • Killboard – What good is having an expanded death table if no one has access to the data within it? Our server runs periodic scripts to extract the information and presents it in an xml format that can be sourced for a truer accounting of a fights results.
  • Improved Alignment System – We completely agree that the current alignment system needs adjustment. So we have removed the timer associated with praying to help fix the issue. Feel free to macro - just know you'll likely get raided and killed while doing so.
  • Increased Structure Strength – All structures have double the normal strength, so won’t break down as easily. (New buildings will not list true strength until after a server restart).
  • Reduced Ruins Strength – Ruins have had their structure strength reduced to 1/10th of normal.
  • Trebuchets – Are not allowed as they are too over-powered at the moment. Will look further at implementation as part of declaring war.
  • No Judgement Hour – While we like the idea of players being able to kill indiscriminately, stealing from containers during this time frame without having locks or thieving skill involved is just…..wrong.
  • Movable Drop Object Heights – Set at 5. This will allow a log ladder to be constructed so players are not safe behind wood or stone walls, but are safe behind castle walls. Naturally players are allowed to build these ladders when raiding.
  • Stump Removal – Happens automatically at server start up, but speed of uproot also increased. Trees under quality of 30 are also auto-removed at startup.
  • Decay Enabled – We want folks to have guild claims. Building off of a claim will require increased maintenance.
  • Guild Wars – Guild Wars will be allowed, working out the details how we will do so. It probably won't require both parties to consent. Its war, not an MMA match.
