Development News #35 - 'WiP Screenshot Showcase | They are coming…'

Hey everyone,

We’d like to share some WiP screenshots and accompanying information about a few cool things we’ve been working on - we hope you like!

We have finished the modelling and texturing of the native NPCs, as well as some native decorations.

Creating the behavior scenarios for each of them awaits us in the near-future.

Guiding your way through the dark nights is imperative to your survival - alas, as well as lighting your way, torches may also be used as a weapon! Thus, we have created a new ‘Siege Torch’, which you’ll be able to try in action soon!

And to round it off for today: we finished concept art for padded armors, Gottlung's style (op, op, op, op, oppa Gottlung style!). At some point, we would like you to be able to choose the armor style to match the race of your character, unrelated to the type of armor itself.

but

(there's always a but)

a previous message not so long ago lead me to believe that we could expect an announcement on when the servers are going live again.

Did I miss it or has nothing been announced yet?

If I were really cheeky, I might add that you don't need the servers to be down to work on armour concept art, but I don't mean that.

They hope to get the servers open again in early feb. They won't annonce a date till they know it themself.
The reason for that is clear - the next part of wave 1 won't start until there is stable 64 bit client that should help with the stability and crashes. They hoped to push it out today for YO, but probably it will be delayed till next week. After that only the live test in YO can show how stable the 64 bit client is and how close we actually are to the next part of wave 1.

Ah thanks, well I did see a post from a "person in red" saying something "be ready guys we will announce a date soon!" but I'm too lazy to search for it.

It was a few days ago.

I was thinking that was realistic, since if it's true that it's not easy for a dev to provide a precise date 8 weeks in advance, now we've past the halfway mark by a bunch.


Basically, if it was next week (like they said they were aiming for) they would have announced it already.

And since next week is the last week of January, the obviously means it'll be out in February. (like they said it realistically would be).

Although "early February", in the language of PC came companies, means anywhere from 1st of February, to the 15th + delays announced at the last minute.

Which means it's possible that the servers aren't going live until another 5 weeks from now...

You know, based on style alone I'd be tempted to run padded armor instead of Chain. Here's hoping the Gottlung Chain is equally awesome looking!

Does this race specific armor also mean we are going to get race specific buildings? That would be a great addition to the game. Make it look way more authentic than having a bunch of viking styled guys living in a European house.

as you can read it in the interactive faq, racial buildings are planned, like racial religious building IF they decide to add them (religion buildings are not completly decided yet)
