There seems to be a chance of getting plant fiber that is 20 quality lower than the tile quality while gathering. Is this intented?

There seems to be a chance of getting plant fiber that is 20 quality lower than the tile quality while gathering. Is this intented?

A guildmate and I did some testing over the last few days. And it isnt that bad.

The quality of the gathered materials is based on the tile you start the search in. If you start the search in a ql 10 tile everything you find will be with in 20 QL of that tile. So no more than 30 no less than 1.

I did a test where I pulled 300 plant fiber. I used a 63ql tile as my test location for 100, 10ql for 100, and a 40ql for 100. My skill is 60.

I was getting no higher than 37 on the 10ql tile. 63 on the 63 ql with the lowest being 30. 63 on the 40, and lowest at 10.

I was getting about 10% of my pulls being max ql for the search, 20% around the middle, and 70% around the lower end.

I was getting quality 55 and the tile I start the search is currently quality 92.

(And now doing herb gathering there and getting as low as q 44 herbs.)

Edit: Herb gathering seems to work a little differently.
