I think this will never happen for archery, atleast I would quit the game if it did. There are so many issues with horse archers in other games, that like I said im not saying anything is final or official but id quit :)

The Mongolian Horse Archers were, prior to black powder weapons, once of the strongest forces in the world. They dominated for a reason, and as a result, would break the game.

i have always played an archer in every mmo game that allows for it, starting with Utlima Online 18 years ago

Although I would love to play a mounted archer, I have to agree that mounted archers would be way too OP for this game

I would love to be mongol raider, hit and run tactics, shoot farmer, burn his farm, rape his wife and childs eh ughh e said nothing... However i think that wont really happen and i am happy about it. basically horse archery is problem even now, they ride to you, shoot at you and when you are closing in, they ride their horses away. My solution would be adding much more skillpoins need for riding warhorses, but proper horse archery would cause the same problem and even bigger because you would be also almost impossible to hunt down using lancing because you would just ride away and shoot behind you or sideways. Nah, cant see way to do it in this game without completely breaking it.

No, no, and hell no, archers are quite OP right now on foot, I can't imagine having even more annoying archers on horses... Hell no, I hope, that this post is just a dream... bad dream.

Technically, people would not do anything else, then just get a horse, tons of arrows, bows and run around the map like retards.

Why do you guys think horse archers dominated the battlefield ? They did, but only in some situations. Pretty much only when there was mostly light infantry / cavalry and no archers / armored troops and when they didn't have to capture / hold a position as they rely on being able to twang away their arrows while moving, so I'd say they had a pretty damn specialised role.

However, this is not entirely true in LIF, and there are a few reasons for that :

- Archers, foot or horse (if ever implemented), are not limited in terms of arrow supply should their guild be advanced enough. I've seen archers carry 100s of arrows in their inventory, which is not possible IRL, especially on horse back. If this was fixed, horse archers would run out quickly if they didn't have a point to ressuply, which means they have to defend a position, and they suck at it.

- Heavy armor does not stop arrows. IRL heavy infantry and cavalry (at least the riders) would not be affected too much by horse archers and could just chase them down until they ran out of arrows or decided to flee the battle altogether because their arrows would just stick into the armor or be deflected.

- IRL, the way to counter horse archers are... foot archers. Know why ? Because horses take a LOT of space, which means for a given surface, you can have MANY more foot archers twanging away than you can have horse archers, PLUS foot archers can field heavier bows, which means better armor penetration and more importantly more range.

So yea, as it is, horse archers would be the best at everything in LIF.

Putting aside something because it would be OP is a bit stupid in my opinion especially when it comes to something as historical as horse archery.

Not that i would be one of them (i prefer swords and i would probably rage if i get killed by one) but i think finding a solution to make them balanced like longer time of recharge or aiming debuff wpuld be better then just implementing them.

Horse archer gameplay is quiet fun , its historic and strong...

... a bit to strong...

on everygame , horse archery break all the gameplay , why ?

Sprint and spam arrow use to much stam ...
- not on horse cause the horse run for you and use is own stam

On the ground people focus you , so you run and have difficult to shot
- not on horse ,cause you are most fast than everybody .

in reality each horse have their own statistic
- not ig cause if archer pick the more fast , you never catch him

in all way , horse archer is an antigame class opening to many abuse & overpowered issue .

i like the way you think
so i would sugest some rules to horse archery.
-the precision should be horrible
-a specialized bow that has very low damage
-when the horse archer is drawing the bow the horse should slow a lot.
-when mounted the player should have a maximun equiped items weigth, so it could not wear a heavy armor and a lot of arrows. this would aply to other cavalary players too.

this way the horse archer would not hit the enemy too easyli, if hit would not do much damage, and when firing would be a easy target to foot archers and ligth cavalry.
like it was IRL.
they would be strong against massive fromations of infantry, but weak agains foot archers anda cavalary.

Horse archery would simply break the game honestly. There is a mod for Mount and Blade Warband that is a lot like LIF, without all the player building, called Persistent World. While Warband does have mounted archery in the regular game, the Dev of the PW mod left it out of the game because it would just be spammed and be counter productive to the over all goals of the mod.

I would suggest the devs of LIF(which Im pretty sure they don't need my advice ;) ) leave horse archery out of LIF as well.

This has been suggested many, many times. Searching on mounted archery produced 6 pages of links.
