Host multiple servers off one dedicated server.

Post by Ajaxx84 » 09 Oct 2014, 20:55

I am wondering what the trick is to doing this. I have a dedicated server I run our primary server off of. Now I want to create a secondary private smaller server for test purposes. However after copying the World file changing it to World_2, changing the instance in it to 2, creating a second shortcut, setting it to -worldID 2, and trying to run it... Fail, error.

Tried cloning the server folder, and running off a diff exe in case that was the issue and same thing. I can run either world with no problem except when the other is already running.

Do I need to tweak something in order to run them both together?

Using the same port configuration or did you change them?

dont forget you might not want to use the same database either.

I have

world_1 SQL_LIF1
world_2 SQL_LIF2

etc.

No worries, port and socket configs are common "misses", was why I asked. (I've forgotten a time or two myself :D )

Not sure of everyone's networking/application experience, so if those interested in learning the back-end, do a web search for "hosting multiple instances of the same application on a single server", you should get information on the "why" and "how" to do it.

Which leads to... I don't think Bobik et al. have provided a guide on how to do it specifically for LiF though.

Ist there any possibility that both server uses different dump.sql?
If you only change the port and the worldID both uses the same recepts.
