I noticed some things that weren't on my map when I played and vice versa. I heard the map wasn't static, that people's towns would appear on the map and vegetation growth too etc

So I was wondering if this is a map of the zone we played in a few weeks ago?

For example, south west of the volcano, there was a swamp area which I can't see on this one, or a small island to the south west of the small island in server 1?

edit: I did notice the map was named beta :p

I believe this is the map put together by Dleath, and if so was made in the early days of Beta 0 and has some terraforming and structures that were around at that time although that map was wiped. The map in game is a live map and will show things like terraforming and walls, buildings to a lesser extent.
