[SOLVED] Initializing loop error

Post by Borealisdei » 17 Jul 2017, 14:41

Greetings,

I am having trouble connecting to Abella mainland server. I can connect to the Newbie map with no trouble but once I transfer the character to Abella, it hangs on "Initializing..." forever.

I have re-installed, repaired, opened console after hitting Play, ran with admin rights, compatibility mode for Win7 and 8 and edited the ServerConnection.cs file, but nothing works. I have tried everything that I've found in old threads from 2016.

The only way I can connect to Abella is by entering "connectToGameServer ()" command, but this crashes the game after 10-15 minutes because of "ghosting".

It seems I keep getting disconnected from the Content Server while it is trying to download a terrain file?

Log is below, the last part is after I enter "disconnect" into console in order to exit game.

Any ideas?

Log is here: https://pastebin.com/pzUEFhsu

Just to make sure, did you select your character in the launcher prior to clicking 'play' button?

Yes. The character does show up and it says its in Abella. Also the server status shows as Available in green. I then go through the normal sequence.

I want to point out this part in the log:

It connects to the ContentServer and downloads approximately 35KBs of data and then the connection is closed by the remote host. If I force a connection with connectToContentServer, it will stay connected forever but it will not do anything nor forward me to the GameServer.

Just to try again, I uninstalled the game completely and re-installed but it will still get stuck at initializing. I can play in the newbie island with no problems and LiF:YO on Steam with no issues, it's just when I try to log into Abella.

Please try following solution:
  • Delete file version from LIF MMO\game\data\world-eu-main directory if you're getting stuck at initialization on Abella, or from folder world-eu-newbie if you're getting stuck during connection to Newbie Island.

Thank you. When I deleted the file "version" under LIF\game\data\world-eu-main\, it downloaded a compressed 450ishMB file which extracted to about 3GB. The initializing error was not fixed.

However, I then deleted the current character I was trying to log in with and created a new one. This time, I left the Video settings on default without changing anything and it was able to transfer to Abella flawlessly. Once in Abella, I lowered the video settings to low, which is what I usually run it with.

I tried to recreate the error by creating a new character and setting the video options on low before transferring to Abella but now it works no matter what settings I use before or after.

Have you tried the solution above?

Arrakis, I'm sorry but the error is back lol.

So, I played for some hours and the game stopped responding. It happened as I was traveling to a new location. My character hands disappeared and nothing would work. Inventory would not open, mouse cursor gone, menus, etc. I closed the game with CTRL ALT DEL and launched it again. Now it is on the never ending initializing error.

I tried the original fix of deleting the "version" file and it downloads the 450MB file but keeps getting stuck on initializing. At this point, I don't want to delete the character since I got some levels on it.

I assume Devs read this so I'll wait for a fix.

Here is a screenshot of the console output: http://imgur.com/NDnjxnB

I'd like to post that I'm having the same issue. Sometimes just closing the task and restarting the game fixes it. sometimes it doesn't.
