Overworking of the PVP-Skilltree

Hello!
First of all: Excuse for my bad english, im not a native english speaker so i will do my best to let you understand what i want to say :D

But at all: I love this game, also the MMO experience, but I also think there is something ‘going wrong’ or the Idea how the system would work could be also a little bit wrong.
So I know, in the Melee System in YO you have a dominance of the 2 handed players the scale armor players. In the MMO you have a dominance of Cavalry-Archer – which are not even possible to destroy with combined-arms.
And the last thing is: the attributes just focus on Strength, agility and constitution and Willpower and Intellect is… how I could say.. mostly useless. You just need 1-3 Guys with a bit in besieging and Intellect to shoot the walls and 1-2 guys for transporting the Stuff with willpower. But I think that’s something that’s wrong.
So… I want to ask if you think this “Idea” is nice or if this Idea is “stupid” – First of all I want to show you the ‘basic concept’ of the Idea:

As you can see, I used it that you have “2 main classes” – first the worker class, which bases on willpower, intellect and constituation. And on the other hand you have the ‘warrior class’, which is based on strength, agility and constitution.
But why?
Its really simple:
Worker – simply your “main force” of your people in your claim should be able to defend themselves and don’t need to focus on the PVP-Skill tree, but they should not be superior to a ‘main PVP-Guy’ with a “PVP-Spec”. But they need the ability to defend themselves. So I focus this tree on Willpower, Intellect and Constitution and on weapons which are normally “easy to learn”. To shoot good with a bow needs a high skill and long training, but shooting with an crossbow just need to know how to put an bolt in it, aim at a target an shoot. The same with Spears, Pikes and Stuff like maces or axes.
To fight with a two handed weapon is much more harder and to specialize in it, took very long to get ‘good’.

So lets start!

Worker Class

0 – same as militia
30 – Your Working-Equpment does 0,5% more Damage for each Point in WIllpower
60 – Hitting your Enemy can stun them for a short time
90 – to disarm – Chance to disarm your enemy when blocking with worker-Items
100 – Showing-Off

Crossbowmen
0 – You can use the Light-Crossbow
30 – You can wear light-padded armor
60 – You can use “Langes Messer”
90 – You can throw Naphta-Grenades
100 – Showing-Off

Arbalestmen
0 – You can use the Arbalest
30 – You can wear normal-padded-armor
60 – You can wear and plant the Pavise and use the “Men-Stop” Ability
90 - You can hit critical with crossbows, depending on your intellect (0,25% per Point)
100 – Showing - Off

Siege-Crossbowmen
0 – You can use the Heavy Crossbow
30 – You can use heavy-padded armor
60 – You can use two-handed maces
90 – You can build Siege-Equipment [New-Items] and use the “piercing Bolt” Ability
100 – You can wear noble-padded armor

Pikemen
The Pikemen normally was a guy who fight in a formation. But in this game they should be able to get ‘Better defense’ and also formation bonuses, which at the moment, makes them totally useless. So I want to fix this
0 – You can use Pikes
30 – You can wear Light-Infantry Plate [NEW ITEM] and use Medium-Pike
60 – You can use Long-Pikes and make a “Pikewall” with every Pike
90 – You can move slowly when you are in a pikewall (Like wearing a shield) and ignore Parrys with your Pikes
100 – Showing Off
Halberdier
0 – You can use Halberds (No Mordaxt)
30 – You can use Medium-Infantry Plate [NEW ITEM]
60 – Hitting an Enemy with your halberd, gives you a chance to hit them out of the saddle
90 – Your Stabs with the Halberd ignore Parrys
100 – Showing-Off
Captain
As I alrady said, the Pikemen is a “Group fighter” – So it will make sense to gave them abilitys to fight as a group and force them to fight in a group, also it will be the “Group-Champion” to deal with the professional-PVP Guys
0 – You can use the Bihander, Flamberge and
30 – You can wear the “Heavy-Infantry-Plate”
60 – You can use “Infantry Formations”
90 – Your Intellect gives you a 0,50% Chance for a critical strike with an halberd, your willpower gives you 1% more dmg for each point in willpower
100 – You can wear the “Noble-Infantry Plate”[NEW ITEM]

Infantry Plate? Whats this?
Its simply a new armor, based on the “playstyle” you need for the Class. But it wont give you the same bonusses and resitences like the “normal plate armor” that you know.
Example would be:
The normal Armor gives you 70% of slash resistence, the infantry plate armor only 55-60%.

Guard
0 – You can use Spears
30 – You can wear Light-Infantry Chainmail[New Item]
60 – You can use Shields (Primitive and Buckler)
90 – You can do the combination Hit (up-up-up)
100- Showing Off

Sergeant
0 – You can use One-handed Axes
30 – You can wear medium-Infantry-Chainmail[New Item] and use the Javelin
60 – You can use Dragonshield
90 – You can do a combination hit and punch them with your shield
100 – Showing Off

Master-Sergeant
0 – You can use One-Handed Maces
30 – You can wear heavy-infantry-chainmail[New Item]
60 – After you block an attack you can do a special attack
90 – Your stabs with your Spears ignore Parrys
100 – You can wear noble-Infantry Chainmail [New Item]

Infantry-Chainmail? Whats this?!
The Infantry Chainmail is like the same as the ‘normal Chainmail’ you know. But its focused on Infantry fighting. Also you will use an other Helmet and on some Places there will be metal-plates

Just expect that the “resistences” are lower than from the normal Armor you get from “Knight” Skilltree in the standard Game

NEW CLASS

Handgunners
So, the game starts around 800 and then get straight up. Also you get Armors which are build in 1380 till 1600, also the mongols used them. So, why not adding Cannon Classes? Would be nice if well played.
0 – You can use the Handcannon [NEW ITEM]
30 – You can wear light Padded Armor
60 – You can reload your Guns faster for 0,1 for each point in willpower
90 – You can use “langes Messer”
100 - Showing Off

Arquebuisers
0 – You can use the “Arquebuse” [New Item]
30 – You can wear medium Padded Armor
60 – You can reload your Guns faster for 0,25% for each Point in Willpower
90 – You can throw Naphta-Grenades
100 – Showing off

Musketeer

0 – You can use the “Hakenbüchse” [New Item]
30 – You can wear heavy Padded Armor
60 – You can use the Ability “Counter-Rider” – If you hit a Horse, you get a chance of 15% that the Rider will be knocked off from the horse.
90 – You can use a Musket
100 – You can wear Noble-Padded Armor



Weapons:

Handcannon
The Handcannon is the primitive of all of it. You can normally run with it on your back, but when you want to use it, you first have to build it up and then you shoot. Reloading Time is about 25 Seconds.
It needs 3 Iron bars and 2 wood billets to build by the weaponsmith, also it weights 6 stones. But when you press the “Fire button” it takes about 3 seconds till the weapon shoot.

Arquebuse
The Arkebuse is some kind of the same like the Handcannon, but it gave you a faster reloading Speed. Reloading should be about 20 Seconds and its not so heavy. It just weights 5 stones
You need 2 Iron Bars and 2 Wood Billets to build it. It shot 2 seconds after you press the shoot button

Hakenbüchse
The Hakenbüchse is a german kind of Arkebuse, but its very light and you can shoot it without a needing to build it up. But to shoot you have to stand still, like in the pike formation. It took about 2 Iron bars and 1 wood billet to built it. It weiht about 3,5 stones and its reloading time is 15 seconds

Musket
The Musket is a more ‘modern’ form. You should be able to move with it while targeting something but you cant reloading it while moving. Also it does lower damage than the Hakenbüchse. It cost about 2 Iron bars, 2 wood Billet, it weight about 3 Stones and has a reloading Time of 18 Seconds.

Ammunition:
It will be build out of 1 Explosive and 100 Iron lumps which gives you 100 bullets with gunpowder

Basics about Gunpowder Weapons:

If you don’t have the full strength for the weapons, your stamina will INSTANTLY go to 0 when shooting with it, also there is a chance of 50% that your character will be falling down like being hit. Every Gunpowder Weapon has a chance of 5% that the shot will do ‘damage on yourself’ and in the 5% there should be a chance of 10% that the weapon will be destroyed. Also each Gunpowder weapon will be...bad with accuracy


Now we come to the “Warrior Class” – I have done it that way, because every ‘professional warrior’ needs to be well trained to perform. So – I took all the abilitys from the normal PVP-Skill Tree and packed them into a combination which ‘makes Sense’ and let you play different kind of specializations.

Warrior Class

The Warrior Class gives you the basics about fighting. Just like when you get disarmed you can punch them in the face! I also liked the One-Punch Man concept
0 – You can parry and punch with your fists!
30 – You can punch and parry twice as fast with you fists!
60 – Riding – You can ride a normal Horse
90 – Punch in your face! – Chance to knock the enemy down when hitting his head
100 – Disarm – Chance to disarm your enemy when blocking with your fists!

Raider
The Raider is something that will allow you to raid enemy villages and for that I write it. It’s the beginning of a ‘Class Tree’ which is for fast attacking and making much dmg on enemy players with.
0 – You can use One-Handed Axes and a primitive shield
30 – You can wear Light-Chainmail
60 – You can do a combination Attack with your Axes
90 – You can ride Warhorses
100 – Showing Off

Pillager
0 – You can use two-handed Axes
30 – You can wear normal Chainmail
60 - You can use a special attack after you parried an attack
90 – You can use throwing Axes
100 – Showing Off

Devastor
0 – You can taunt your enemys
30 – You can wear heavy chainmail and use the taunt “coward”
60 – You can use “aaargh!”
90 – You can use Siege-Weapons and Siege and taunt with “you are mine!”
100 – You can wear Noble Chainmail Armor and taunting them (With animation)
As you see, the ‘Class’ is for running into an enemy village and pillage them.

Knight
The Knight-Tree is for the main Cavalry Gameplay. It also gives the Cavlry the better Armor and skills you need
0 – You can use Bastard-Swords
30 – You can wear Light-Plate Armor and use the heater-shield.
60 – You can use the Knightsword and ride a warhorse
90 – You have a lower Chance to fall off the Saddle
100 – Showing Off

Paladin
0 – You can use Two-Handed Swords
30 – You can wear normal Plate Armor and use a combination attack
60 – You can ride tough and armored warhorse
90 – Iron-Grip and can use a combination attack
100 – Showing off

Commander
0 – You can use Lances
30 – You can wear heavy Plate Armor
60 – You can use “Cavalry Formations”
90 – You can ride spirited warhorse
100 – You can wear noble Plate Armor and ride a Royal Warhorse

Thrower
For good knowing of shooting Arrows you also need to know how to use throwing weapons! Also the Longbowmen and Bowmen were mostly highly-skilled People who know their bow perfectly. That’s why the Crossbow was in total more common.
0 – You can use a Sling
30 – You can use Throwing Knife and wear light leather-Armor
60 – You can use Throwing Axe
90 – You can use a Naphta Pot
100 – You can throw Firework-Pots

Bowmen
0 – You can use the simple Bow
30 – You reload faster and can use normal leather Armor
60 – You can use Shortbows and use Sables
90 – Arrow in the Knee and you can use Anti-Cavalry Equipment
100 – You can use Firework-Arrows
Vintenar
a Vintenar was mostly a guy who was the Commander of the Bowmen-Squad
0 – You can use the Composite-Bow
30 – You can reload faster and wear heavy-leather Armor
60 – You can use Longbows and use the “Bowmen-Formations”
90 – You can use “Volley”
100 – You can wear noble-Leather Armor

Swordsmen
the Swordsmen is mostly like the “Huscarl Tree” in normal Game. But I think in this combination it would be more efficient.
0 – You can use One-Handed Swords
30 – You can wear light scale armor
60 – You can use the Buckler and do a combination attack
90 – You can do a combination attack
100 – Showing Off

Heavy Infantry

0 – You can use One-Handed Piercing Weapons and longswords
30 – You can wear normal scale Armor
60 – You can sprint with your Shild and use the Targe-Shield
90 – You can do a combination attack
100 – Showing Off

Men at Arms
0 - You can use Maces and repair you Equipment
30 – You can wear heavy scale armor
60 – You can wear the heavy Targe
90 – You can set poison on your weapons
100 – You can wear noble-Scale Armor



Yea... thats a 'small Idea' were i was working on now for some hours. Because i think the actual gameplay got strong benefits in PVP and focus you to just "go into 1 playstyle" - which i find is sad :(

Cool idea, i'm not juging your work, it clearly take you hours to make this dedicated post.

But combat skill tree have been already changed once and in a better way this is already more specialised as intended with a 400 skillcap.

There will never be firearms in this game, it's a early medieval game era.

There is already different class or armors for each, the novice (the light) to the royal (the heavy).

With your proposal i think nobody will go for the worker class, the warrior class look better.

Thanks for your fast answer :)

And yea, it took me hours XD but its okay. But i have to correct you, the game isnt about early medieval.

The game starts around ... 1100 - But the whole Armors, especially the plate, is around 1380 till 1550 or later. Also you have Naphta Grenades with explosive effect. So there are 'already' explosive stuff :)


Also - can you tell me why the worker class wouldnt be chosen?

You get buffs for intelligence and willpower and also a good weaponry on the defensive side and a good weapon combination on the offensive side.

A Pikemen can moving while using his pike and when you would use firearms you got a biiiig man-stop ability if you shoot with 5 guys on 1 (2 bullets should hit ^^)
