Investigating custom maps has been on my to-do list for quite a while, but I assume LiF uses a custom-made data format for their maps? I haven't looked at it closely yet, but I imagined the vanilla Torque 3D engine uses a grayscale heightmap, which is essentially a 2D map, while LiF uses some sort of 3D format, since it also needs to store what kinds of substances are underground. Possibly it combines a 2D heightmap with extra data for what exists under it, or something like that.
Hence I assumed making custom maps would first require reverse engineering LiF's map data format. Or have you already done that?
