We have found a fix for the "Initializing" Problem - see here!

Post by Tekplex » 16 Dec 2016, 09:01

Greetings,

Like a lot of you, initially the ctrl ~ got me around the problem.
Then after the last crash it no longer worked for me.

Our guild thought the issue was maybe characters being stuck in game from the crashes or something of the sort so without further ado -

1. Ctrl ~ after selecting play.

type " connectToGameServer " with the c being lowercase.

1 of 2 things will happen. The game will crash with an error report, or the server will "kick" you and take you back to the character screen (or close game)

This is a good thing, We think this forces the server to realize your character is stuck in game or something along those lines, and stop the endless loops.

2. Reload game - hit play again.
After about 15 seconds waiting for the initial console loads to go through - type " connectToGameServer " again.

1 of 2 things will happen again. Another error crash/server kick (which is good - third try will work) or you will instantly move past "initializing" to connecting to the world.

If you have to try the third time, either let the game load normally, or after 15 seconds do the " connectToGameServer " again.

I've had to do both ways but I can now consistently get into the game after hours and hours of not being able too.

Hope it works for you.

apparently this fix was already known to some, at least the "connectToGameServer" part as world chat so rudely let me know. :D One time didn't work for me though it took the 2-3 times process to force kick my character to end the loop.
I saw people still posting for help here and wanted to lend a hand, not receive the credit - sorry. Hope it works!

Ive gone through all the steps and I get to the third time and it keeps saying Ive been kicked reason patching failed. Any suggestions?

So I launch the game get to char screen and hit play, open console, and wait a few secs so the connection starts processing then when it gets done and gets stuck without loading me in i type connectionToGameServer it goes thru a process then kicks me back to char screen. So I close the game down and re launch then go thru the process again and it kicked me. Then I go through the process once more and I get connection terminated reason patching failed. Each time I close completely out of the game and repair the launcher. Am i doing something wrong.

What happened the second time?

I had a patching failed I believe you are trying to force connect too fast.

Wait about 15 seconds to open the console and type the command. It needs to get past the initial patch loads

If that doesn't work, try a normal load running as admin without doing anything, then repeat from step one if it loops.

If anyone else has questions add me on steam Ronin30 - I'm the one with the black and white Japanese symbol

It should also be noted that this strategy also works if you get stuck waiting on the server after the initialization has run its course. I was perpetually stuck in that loop early this AM and was not aware of the fix becasue everyone was referring to it as a fix to those experiencing initialization difficulties specifically which is a misnomer given what we know now.

One of my guys figured out a way that hasn't failed me yet

After you log-in on the patcher, wait until it gives you the option to 'Launch' and 'Repair'

Click 'Repair', it will do a check of all files and download the latest changes to the game (Building stuff, generating items, stuff growing, etc.) which is what the game downloads usually in-game, but because whatever is broken in the game seems to not want to let you download.

I then do the Ctrl + ~ thing and I havn't had 1 issue joining within a min or two

Give it a try

Cian, are you stuck on initializing or Waiting for Server... then a kick from a failed patch?

Both. Stuck on initialization. Tried the steps above. Kicked from server. Tried 3 times. Kick from server. Tried repair. Nothing. Tried Re-install nothing. Still hangs.

Hey guys.

I'm pretty new to the beta and am having the same issues with initialising. Initially the ctrl ~ was working for me (3 times was the charm) but for the last 2 days I was having no luck with that either. What I found today was that if I created a new character I could manage to get myself in, using ctrl ~ again. After logging in with the new character I was then able to log onto my first character with ctrl ~ again. Not sure if this method has already been posted but thought I'd chuck it up in case it hasn't. So yeah make a new character, log in, then relog onto your main. Hope I'm not just restating things.

I tried this and only once did it let me into the game, I gave it three goes entering in connectToGameServer after a long pause stuck on initializing. When I got into the game my toon wouldnt respond to keyboard commands sometimes and he wouldn't equip the clothes and torch. It was pitch black and raining and I think I got spawned into a stuck position but I'm not sure.

Since my first and only time of being in the actual game I have not since been able to connect to the game server with it saying kicked because couldnt patch.

Damn this, I spent $100 AUD to help the game progress and so far it's been a waste of money for me.

I hope they can fix this for me.

My region is Australia and my connection is ADSL 2+ My Rig is as follows:

Ok, I decided to check and see if my nvidia driver needed an update and it did! I was able to log into the game. No need for [crtl] ~ as it got past initializing without a connect to game server command being necessary.

I suggest checking your game driver for updates.

Thanks
