I think it is netural to use knife for short distance and sword for long distance during a battle. Also fighter can have some attack speed benefits if he uses two one-handed weapons simultaneously.

Dual wield is cool, but to be honest, I don't think it would fit in LIF.

For realism's sake. Only the most extremely skilled fighters could pull the style of and even then it was still useless in an actual battle with more than 1 or 2 opponents facing you.
