Some no official news about one of the next patch... skill trees...

Post by Khan- » 06 Apr 2016, 15:49

Hi there

I'm not a dev, I just help for the translation in the crowdin, and as always, I catch some good things incoming...

and since this morning... tadaaaaaaa ! something looking alike a skill tree change (Somebody from the team confirmed)

the left name is changing, then, we can understand it's a skill that merged with another one. the right name is a new skill, which welcome different skills or a part of some skills.

logging -> Building Maintain
Prospecting -> Artisan
Herbalism -> Brewing
Militia service -> Precious Prospecting
Padded armors -> Advanced Farming
Unarmed combat -> Warrior
Axe and mace mastery -> Chivalry

For example a line has been totally changed :

3x lower armor encumbrance. Can use throwing knives. Unarmed attacks and parrying strikes from pole weapons become twice as fast
 %(static:message:2171)

You can read here with a XX level in the YY skill, you'll be able to EQUIP and USE weapon, then, armors seem to changed totally their "skill branch"

throwing weapon, leather armor and unarmed fighting merge
logging and terraforming merge
... in fact, it seems most of the 2 first skills from skill branch merge

it may look something like that :
Image

OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS NOTHING OFFICIAL, NOTHING DEFINITIVE, ANYTHING CAN CHANGE AND THEY ARE TOTALLY FREE TO CHANGE IT EVEN IF YOU ARE AGAINST IT

- I'm here to bring some fresh news which could make happy a lot of people !

EDIT AFTER THE PATCH :

finally, the skill trees change totally :)

That's pretty interesting. Indeed, a flatter skill tree would be much appreciated. This puts some of my worries to rest. Thanks :)

Edit: although some prerequisites still don't seem to make much sense, e.g. those:
Militia service -> Precious Prospecting
Padded armors -> Advanced Farming

Ohwell, "nothing official". Perhaps I bit a bait ? ;)

they merge,

Can raise and lower the level of terrain. Can strip bark and cut down trees. Can create a camp. Can create a primitive tools. Can hew stones for construction.

terrforming, forestry, material prep seem to merge ;)

not a bait, not a fake... Devs will obviously make an official announce about that... it's more like a datamining if you prefer... very common thing on MMO's

and, they are not "becoming", militia service disappear, padded armor disappear and they merge into anything different
then, the left is a skill that will merge with something... and the right is a skill that must change its name because it's a part of 3 or 4 old skills

I am a little confused....

So a question that you probably don't have an answer for but then are they combining the build and kill trees? because a few of these look like they are moving warrior skills into the building trees like padded armors and militia service?

Also is this planned for the next patch is that why it is taking longer then they anticipated?

If you don't mind me asking where are you getting this information? If you said it in your first post I didn't understand it.

http://translate.lifeisfeudal.com/

and here something I made very very quickly... I believe some skills will merge soon

Well done on the visual, that is very interesting, I was hoping that they would break more of the chains, but this will defiantly be interesting and I am looking forward to seeing what kind of builds I can do if they push this out like this.

Pretty interesting stuff. There has been a lot of complaining about the skill trees so any change should be welcomed.

It looks great. I'm sure it will still change over time but it shows some great work in the right direction assuming its correct. I really like the advance farming and the chivalry change. Those look quite improved.

Very interesting. We knew they were changing skill setups for the MMO, so this may be something that has been planned for a long time (and it seems to incorporate some feedback as well.)

Always love seeing how they take what we say and do, and try to make things better! :crazy:

as Bobik said, less skills, lower skillcap... I have no idea about it, there is no translation about the skillcap ;)

I believe the work isn't finished, they are still thinking about it, but this is a proof they are working hard and not only delaying the current patch just for the pleasure (they also added 2 things about the heraldry, proving again it's not totally ready)

Such a distribution of skills does not make sense . Terraforming in the tree " art" ? Really ? And it's forcing one skill to have second - crossbow = bow . In general, it makes no sense to do to force skill . The best in my opinion would be to get the selected pool of points and utilize them for what you want . Alternatively, force one main skill , the rest of discretion .

I still don't get why crossbows are before bows! That's stupid! Bow is most simple ranged weapon. You can make it from stick and any type of rope or animal/plant string. Also crossbows needs more expirience in handling them... They should fix it. Make crossbows more op with better range and faster reload time, nerf bows and voilaa. People should be able to make and use bows same as primitive weapons. And armors should have separate skill tree.

SImple to make. But its way harder to use a bow then a crossbow. But true it dont makes much sense to learn bows and crossbows

Well its not done yet, there will probably be more changes until the MMO is truly realesed, i think they are aware of all of the input we made everywere and are concidering it. Time will show how things will unfold. :pardon:

Its great that someone is dedicated enough to sift through forums to find news to give to players granted its not confirmed news.

it is really sad and not a good sign that the company has delayed a patch for 2 or 3 weeks now with no news and then fails to even hint that they were working new skill lines.

I realize they have stated they were going to change for the MMO, but a 2-3 week delay with no news is just piss poor customer service.

It takes 30 seconds to write a post stating "sorry for the delay, we decided to look into adding to the next patch and therefore decided to delay the patch."

Or we are having QA issues or whatever the issue is..it literally takes 30 friggin seconds to update your supporters and is just good business. This type of lack of communication kills player base as those that are not updated see it as a slight by devs and just move on to other games.

My point is the company is not doing themselves any favors and only losing players by not taking 30 seconds for a quick update to notify those that support them.

This point should not have to be stated, but is one of the biggest killers of games in development and repeatedly happens.

Its just sad to see devs blow the whole customer relations thing and for the life of me I can not figure out why most gaming companies still fail to do this simple and easy 30 second communication.

but what is saying us it's really near, Saxxon usually clean pinned topic before the release, Alex just built the last version of translations, and the forum groupe "beta tester" have been made yesterday or this morning...

so, yes, this is NEAR ! I WANT TO BELIEVE !
