Server Mission Statement:

To develop an immersive RP story experience that allows interactions between players to occur organically, therefore allowing the players to experience the world and story in the fullest way possible.


In Character:



The Broken Isles loom among crashing waves in the turbulent northern sea. Castaways, men and women set adrift during their flight from the war torn homelands of their ancestors, drag their near lifeless bodies up the sand. There many find the respite of death and fall into shadow. Yet, life clings to a few. And there among pines bent low from harsh winds and the beneath the shadow of the great mountain they toil for a new life, and hope that the ills of their forefathers would not be revisited upon them.


But man, like history, repeats and the Broken Isle has a long memory.


Server Rules:



The Golden Rule: The rules are meant to protect the immersive atmosphere and those who intend to spend time here should not only follow the letter of the law, but the spirit in which it’s intended. Skirting rules for personal agendas will not be tolerated. If there is any doubt, there is no doubt.


General Server Quality of Life Rules:


All stumps must be uprooted as they are cut. The exception are those leveling skills, however they must be removed within a few minutes. Don’t be lazy. It lags the server and causes issues.
Horses that run away will not be replaced by the GM’s. We respect the horse's desire for self determination.
Do not exploit glitches or developer flaws. IE: Logging out by a wall and appearing on the top.
Trees walls will not be permitted. A tree farm may exist, however it needs to be reasonable in size and at least 1 space between all trees and 2 spaces between oaks. Simple rule. If a horse can’t ride through them, they are too close. The GM’s will remove them.
General Chat is limited to in game questions, public RP announcements, or questions for a GM. Please limit it for those purposes. Spam is no less annoying in chat than it is as a meat.



Code of Conduct (OOC):



Don’t be a jerk. If you need that defined, you’re in the wrong place.



Roleplay Conduct and Requirements:



All names must be RP and grounded in storytelling. Do not skirt the intent of this rule.
Thro At’Can-cer is not an RP name and will result in a ban. You’ll come off as a troll.
Donald Trump is technically a name, however public figures conjure an image and break immersion. Please don’t. We have zero tolerance on this front.
Names from other genre fiction should be avoided. We try to catch them all, however if you slip one by and we find out you will be asked to create a new character iit’s discover
In game actions (particularly as it pertains to combat) must have a story driven element that serves to develop character. If the intent of someone is to cloak OOC behavior with RP, that person will be given one warning and then be removed. Trolling is obvious. Don’t do it. PvP conflict, however, is essential to a vibrant server. See PvP rules for additional details.
Metagaming. This is a tricky definition that people use all the time for a lot of reasons. Basically, it’s your character reacting to information that they gained off the stage of the game. This should be avoided. Malicious uses of this will not be tolerated.
Do not place objects in logic defying ways.



Rules, Conditions, and Policy:



The rules exist to protect the atmosphere and story happening on the server. We expect some emotional reactions, people having a bad day, or conflicts to occur. Such is life, even when it’s not feudal. However, the intent matters. The scope of the problem matters. One big thing or three small things are about the same.


People who use RP as a means to disrupt the atmosphere for their own personal gains are simply not welcome and will be shown the door. Accidents, or an off moment, will be handled with warnings. Repeat offenders will be handled. Screenshots, video, or unbiased personal accounts assist greatly. We appreciate them.


And we also expect those on the other time to allow for the opportunity to address concerns. We are active and will get to them ASAP, but we do need to sleep. We’re all adults...let's act like it.

In the event you need a GM to moderate a dispute or address an in-game bug, ask for one in the global chat. One will be dispatched as quickly as possible.


NOW ON TO MORE INTERESTING THINGS.


Regarding Claims, Fortifications, Player Creation, and City Development:


The Great Isle belongs to the Gods. Do not settle there.
Any one clan is limited to a single claim.
Players are limited to one toon.
Fortifications must be constructed buildings or trenches. Planted trees, logs, etc do not count and need to be avoided.
A clan may not split off their claim to have a subclaim cover a nearby resource.
Claims can not be placed over major resources except clay.



Regarding PvP:


PvP is both an essential part of the experience as well as huge reason why servers fail. We’re taking a story based, yet open to diplomacy and conflict oriented approach. This is not a server wherein one can run around without armor over and over again and get kills, regardless of your RP. It is, however, a server that encourages a rich environment that includes dangers, robbing, and war.


The server will have a judgement weekend every other weekend. This is subject to change depending on how it works out.


KOS: Killing on sight must have an established RP reason, such as war. Simply attacking people without any RP at all is not allowed.
Castle Laws: It’s dangerous to be on someone’s claim. It is up to the laws of that land to determine the outcome of that action.
Declarations of War: Declarations of war between parties can exist and at that point known members of either group can be KOS.
Fortifications: One can not “jump” over a fortification unless they are able to do so reasonably.
Do not combat log.
Attacking through walls or doors is lame. Don't do it.
Do not purposely kill with gates.
Do not kite Aggressive animals aid you in ANY combat.

Ravens are a general announcement and declaration, not specific to an individual

Regarding Nobility Claims:

Kingdom: King/Queen:
Must have a keep
Must have two Royal Knights
Claim must have 10 members.
Must have the support of at least another Duchy.
Tier 3 monument or higher
Must have it’s own public market (trading post)

Duchy: Dukes/Duchess
Must have at least a wooden keep.
Must have stone walls
Claim must have 6 people
Tier 2 monument or higher
Must have two barons or three clans

Barony: Barons and Baroness
Must have city walls
Claim must have at least 3 people

Clan: Clan Chief
Claim must have a monument
Claim must have 3 people

Server Configuration Basics:

Day rotation: 1.5 Hours
Modified skill times (generally quicker)
100 Animals
Daily Restart at 7a Pacific Time
4.0 Teraforming Speed
Judgment Hour enabled only on weekend following a declaration of war, for the duration necessary, starting at 8a Pacific on a Saturday.
