I would like to suggest these be added as a way to add more depth to the progression of wilderness survival in the early stages of the game. Also now that cold weather is added it would go a long way for new players to have a way to protect themselves from the elements and during the night. It would also be an easy way to spice up the variety of shelters with relatively less effort.
I'd like to see heat and light have a direct effect on size of shelters as well. For example a bigger shelter will need more lighting to be well lit and more heat to increase your body temperature more quickly, while shelters like teepees very little fire and light to see and will warm you up relatively fast. Debris huts should be added as a way to stay warm without a fire. The mechanics regarding weather effects to body temperature must be as realistic as possible, that way clothing and tailoring become an even more important aspect in the game. As well as adding more value to shelters and fire. If you walk around in rags in cold weather your temperature bar, which hopefully will be implemented, will drop relatively quickly, whereas if you have coats and insulative layers you will do fine. If you are next to a fire outside even without clothing you will do just fine. The mechanics are very important to get right here and not a lot of games get them right or even have them in this area. The Long Dark has them but they could be a little more realistic, but since they have them it adds quite a huge dynamic to their game and is one of the bigger reasons it is popular.
