Watering Crops

38
So I was thinking that crops should need watering, the way to implement this might be make it so you need to water a planted field, so that when weather is added, when it rains it will also hydrate the field.
I just though that with this added feature, it would add a new challenge for desert, arid and frozen territories.

I've had a huge discussion about this in another survival game. We drew to the conclusion that it was a bad idea because it would be too tedious and unrealistic. Back in the day, people didn't water their large fields of crops. They instead relied on rain and planting near, not directly next to, lakes to make sure that the soil was hydrated. Rain should benefit crops, but watering them should not be a requirement.

Good idea! In temperate regions it could add an interesting way to increase crop yields and in desert regions it would actually be the only way to make farming possible. If you combine this with my ideas (Thirst, Containers for liquids) it would make it really hard to survive in deserts, as it should be. At the same time there could be huge ore deposites in the center of a desert to make such a place interesting.
    Sounds really nice.

Rather then a "Crops require water" effect.
I would rather see a. Crops require a certain amount of water requisite for crops:

If it rains the correct amount, no watering is required.
If it rains to little, you can supplement with water (I feel the water gathering should be improved with a bucket so you can collect 10/50 water at a time for this)

If it rains to much... provide irrigation ditches to drain excess

If you do not water when it is " needed " during a drought, the crops yield less/die
If you do not irrigate when there is to much water, same effect.

Think the option to make the fields more productive is a great idea, maybe grow faster. I wouldn't make it needed just to grow in general though.

I think we need different types of watering crops.

    The primitive one:
Manual watering by pumping water from the deep into the crops in the near. Needs a new building - Waterpump. The waterpump can only supply a small radius with water.
    http://www.antikefan.de/themen/wasser/bilder/pumpe.jpg

Watering by animal like cow or horse. This also pumps water from the deep into the crops in the near. Needs a new building - Horsemill. The Horsemill has a better range than the waterpump. This needs an animal (horse or cow) and food for them to extract water.

High technical watering by watermill. This building needs a river or the sea nearby to extract water. Needs a new building - Watermill (or Noria). The Watermill has a slightly better range than the Horsemill. This needs nothing to extract water. You can transport the water with a canal/ditch and a weir.

Therefore we need also a canal or a ditch and a weir (dt. Kanal, Wehr)

It would be interesting to introduce in the case of the water for crops serve a rudimentary system of channels for irrigation in addition to the manual method.

WOW, WHAT A BRILLIANT GAME!! It outperforms every other game I've ever played. Personally, I think 1v1 Battle is the best shooting game. When I'm in school, I like to play it with my pals. We had some fun battles that helped me develop new skills.

On the other hand, speakers are great if you’re looking for a more detailed and dynamic sound. Speakers have more components than soundbars and offer greater flexibility. https://drsoundbar.com/best-soundbar-for-outdoor-projector/
