A big problem in the YO version is the lack of an in game economy. Players quickly are able to supply their needs and after the first week or so the economy goes flat. To make matters worse, with the Monuments, you can't even pillage the enemy because everything is 'locked', unless it Judgement hour. (Lame)
To resolve this I think the monuments should generate income. A small monument might generate 1 copper per game day, while a the largest monument might generate 1 gold per game day. This would allow for a currency system to develop and move the game play past a Barter system. As groups seek to attain more wealth, they will raid to take the wealth of their enemies, (Monuments should be able to be "Looted") Also Larger clans could collect Taxes from the income of Smaller communities making Vassals more engaging.
Having the currency in place will allow smaller groups to purchase needed items from larger Guilds, and Larger guilds could pay new comers for various tasks. The economic aspect of the game needs work, and the currency would really make it take off, liven the game and make it much more playable.
