A secondary Default Button ?

11
Can we have a secondary Default Action Button ?

Example, when you right click on the ground, you can then find terraforming and then right click OBSERVE and then your left mouse button is now set for your default action of OBSERVE every time you left click on the ground. But I sometimes wish I had a secondary action button along with OBSERVE. I would like to use the Middle Mouse Button to be my secondary action. To LOWER GROUND by middle clicking the mouse. ( Even assignable to a key binding on the keyboard ) This will ease up on all this right clicking, changing defaults, and then right clicking again type of behavior which is just not user friendly.

    Although I like the idea, I don't like the use of the middle mouse button. Would prefer using my own key assignment, through the GUI key-binding process.

    I actually think there is a better solution for this. I do agree the game needs more simplification on the interface part. Additional macro/button settings are a good idea, so I agree. How about, also , at the developer level making objects have default actions. So all trees have a priority list of actions depending on what the player is holding. So holding an axe? it wont ask you to chose from the drop down menu.. it would just assume you want to chop it down. And so on. For all objects + player holding = different action. That would be for a particular click. If you want your menu (drop down or not) you would do another click. Not as limiting as it seems, just way less convoluted than it is now.

    All good thoughts.

    Perhaps holding a shift / ctrl / alt key while left mousing could easily (?) provide a 2nd default.

    My personal default requests:

    1) remove tanning tubs from the class of containers, such that when you default boxes / chests / barrels etc to "open", using a tanning tub does not reset them to the (almost never wanted) "Inspect".

    2) Keep each user's defaults - not just when disconnect/reconnect, but have a "profile" - a person's favorites, next time you boot up and enter the game.

    3) Allow a separate KEY for observe, as you are always switching to raise / lower / flatten etc alternately with Observe. My personal use is to make observe the default, select the others as needed.

    I would love a default for the map. I wrote a little "macro express" macro that does M then positions to click "+" "+" then the [person icon] to center the map.

    Also I sometimes try to shrink the map on my small screen, but the compass rose takes too much space on the map. A simple "N" and arrow would do (or nothing, for I don't think anything else refers to North as "up").

    I'd love to see LOGICAL defaults.

    box / crate / chest / barrel = OPEN

    Empty Tanning Tub: use tanning tub

    Full Tanning Tub: pull out.

    cold Kiln / Bloomery / Forge = manage; but when hot, don't switch to "Recycle". Switch to the most likely default - keep "Manage".

    Warehouses = open

    Buildings = Open/close

    In general. make the most commonly used function the default.

    I would like to be able to bind more than 3 mouse buttons

    On forums you tell people that complain about not being able to play the game anymore since the DX11 update, that your computer is not good enough to play modern games (despite the fact that 95% play with grass off, due the flux frenzy and 1 pixel wide herb), and you can't even program support for modern mouses???
