I believe that Epleland needs an alignment system that would allow for more realistic interactions while still having the intended consequences of criminal actions. Thus I propose we switch to a ‘bounty’ system, which would operate much as it does now but with a key difference - the alignment/bounty value is tied to an individual map region. This is more realistic, tracking individuals across distances during this age was difficult and would stand to reason that people could disappear into areas unknown.
Maybe for server 25 utilise the lowest of these values or an average (it is the capital after all, and would maintain the risk for criminals travelling there). Also when land mass is increased on the servers, this may also promote migration to these areas, similar to what occured during the colonial era.
This maintains the desired consequences of negative alignment, whilst providing a system more true to life and gives people some opportunity to mitigate the -50 murder alignment restriction, albiet with only a finite number of re-tries.

Furthermore, if an execution feature is implemeneted (something similar to this) this may integrate quite well and would further encourage player policing on the servers.
For example, a player who has a bounty in Sleeper’s Tongs is discovered in The Icey Hermits. They are caught and returned to Sleeper’s Tongs where they ‘stand trial’ and are executed, suffering the increased skill loss that they normally would (or a larger one-off skill loss for getting caught). You could potentially use a system like this to replace the current system altogether, making the skill loss very, VERY severe as opposed to locking characters at -50 alignment (actual loss vs potential loss).

I would suggest this for all regional servers, but not sure how this would affect the meta with things like JH, etc.
