More tools and devices and better 'tool handling'

8
It makes sense if you have built a fireplace, that you need to have a cooking pot to cook something, but it is a totally different story with the kitchen. You see all those pans and cooking pots hanging there but you still need to have a cooking pot equipped to cook something. Same with the blacksmith's shop. You see all the tools lying around, but you still need to carry the same kind of tools in your inventory. I very often store the tools in some container to make some more room in my inventory and forget it there. I stand in front of the device cursing, because i have to run back to the container to fetch the tool.
And sometimes it is the other way around, you don't need a tool for something that would require one, like with 'pull out' on the kiln. Do you pull out hot coals out of an oven by hand? You should need tongs or a hook. Some other examples for new tools: nets for fishing, rake for plowing, hammer and chisel for shaping rocks...
It would also be nice if you could equip a device with all the tools neccessary for every interaction instead of equipping them on your character.

With the quality system requiring tools I don't see how this could be implemented unless that part of the equation for quality is altered. Besides most people are seeking realism and it is just realistic to have to carry your own tools to use them.

This idea is not about getting rid of tools, but quite the opposite, i request more tools. But at the same time i would like to have the possibility to leave the tool at the device, where i need it the most. The shortcut 'T' opens your own equippment where you can manage what clothes and tools you have equipped. Exactly this interface could be implemented for any device. For example the Blacksmith's shop has a lot of different possibilities how to use it, smelting, forging tools, forging weapons, forging armors. At the moment you can use smelting with tongs and crucible and forging with blacksmith's hammer. With my idea you could equip both tools on the blacksmith's shop and wouldn't have to equip them on yourself. The tool can still break and you can still replace it with a newer and better version. Imagine it as if you would outfit your shop with all the tools you need to build a nice 'work' environment. It is unrealistic to have a shop like the blacksmith's shop and being forced to take all the specialised tools with you when leaving. At the same time you can implement the idea of soundguy 'more store for buildings' to make it even less tedious to work on those devices.
