Several weather states and the four seasons

251
It would be interesting to add various states of weather as rain and storms. The four seasons was also perfect, for example in the Middle Ages there was no military campaigns. I thought it was an excellent addition to the game!

I love this idea. The idea of storing food for the winter when nothing grows makes late game a little more difficult. I think it would also promote trade. I can imagine a larger settlement being asked to accept new people during winter. Especially if it's dynamic weather, with early winters and droughts in the summer, thereby lowering food storage.

Also along with weather should come cold weather attire. Maybe adding an extra slot for capes (fur capelet, or it could be used for guild colors) or something along those lines for protection from the elements. If you decide to venture out on a long journey and forget to pack something warm you're not going to make it. Especially during a military campaign or along long trade routes.

I'm sorry but I forgot to put the word " winter " in the phrase "in the Middle Ages there was no military campaigns" , so that the correct phrase would be "in the Middle Ages there was no military campaigns in Winter". And thanks for the comments of the players and the votes, I hope that as a community we can help developers to constantly improve the game! Feudalistic Greetings

More variety in weather and changing seasons is a nice idea.

However, my concern would be that seasons change too quickly. A couple RL weeks per season might work okay.

I like this idea also, just small note about season lenght - it really needs to be configurable parameter by server admin, same way like terraforming speed, plant growth period, skillcap etc..
Some players like "turbo way" some more realistic slow paced one.
As it is LiF: Yur Own - there should be enough options to setup it as you wish.

perfect idea, it would be really nice to have season's even if its only more rain and storm and maybe the temperature could affect the body by some way

This would also improve team play, as player would, like in real life, depend on the help of others to accomplish survival.
Everyone would have to work hand in hand to make enough to survive long winder periods!

But this is a very huge step, so it will take a long time to a lot work for the developers!

This is a great idea, a must. Certain events like floods could also be considered, where the water rises temporarily in a random area of coast or river.

They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

aaaah, seeing 3 choices in postits, I hope this means on of the 3 will be developped before the release, then I vote here !

Plus, seasons could be 1 month of real life time, obligin people to farm all month along to help their community for a month of winter

Most important thing about this suggestion, we will finally be able to say: "Winter is coming."
    And it WILL be coming.

I agree with everything others say. I think the seasons should have a very real impact on the game such as floods, snow storms, drought, and the such so it feels more real. This way people will really have to decide what is more important and have to do some actual planning. I also think that if it rains you should be getting wet and then have negatives for being cold. Same goes for in the winter and summer. If you are out side for the whole day in summer, you should get negatives for being to hot especially if it is a really hot day. I also think that some weather patterns should be random such as storms or early winter storms. I like the mods for Skyrim when it comes to weather and how it effects your characters survival.

When thinking about the length of each season you should not forget that the agricultural cycle is highly dependent to this. I am no expert but i think that most crops can only be harvested once per year. If this is not altered ingame i would not make a year too long (one week per season is the shortest i can imagine but four months for each harvest seems too long for a game.)
Also you must not forget those poor players who have their first spawn during winter or late harvest without supplies, shelter or social contacts on the server. Should they wait a whole month until they can start to play with a chance to survive for a longer period?
Or maybe the roughness of the seasons depends to the geographic position so that winter in the starting area would be less frightening.
