Tameable Wolfs -> Dogs as Pets

59
I'ld like to have the ability to tame wolfs to become a dog, which follows you or looks over your property, when you travel around.

They should also be able to gard the claim area and attack.

If they would at least bark when someone was on your claim to give you a heads up would be a huge bonus. With all the cows and the sheep making so much racket its easy for people to sneak up on your claim and knife you in the back.

I think if you forget to feed them they turn back mean and try to bite you.

These features are a good idea, but please give more detailed info on what you would like.
The developers read this, and then need ages to figure out what features you are expecting..

I like this idea. There should be a small dog house building required to have a dog where you could feed. I would also have two windows in the dog house one for dogs staying inside and one for dogs outside physically in the game. So when one is born in order to bring it into the world you need to drag it to the outside window the dog will then enter the world following the player that dragged them into the outside window. I would also recommend having several new actions and a skill for dog handling. one action would be call back in case your dog starts chasing away an enemy and you want him to come back. Another action would be attack, this action would be hard to make functional. the default would be easy being if you have no one targeted then the dog would attack anything in a certain radius that isn't in your guild or unit. to target a specific person or animal it may require a bit of work for example when you click the attack skill it automatically highlights the player closest to you, and when you move your vision the player closest to your curser will be highlighted and when you click on a highlighted player then the dog would attack. Three other actions would be track peaceful animal, track aggressive animal and track player. when you click track the dog will begin running towards it if the thing you are tracking is within a certain radius that ideally would depend on your dog handling skill and how many times the dog has tracked. For tracking though the dog would not engage the player or animal just follow it barking. And finally another action that would not be on a the hotbar but activated by right clicking the ground would be "stay". When the dog is following you can right click a tile as long as it is not locked by a structure then the dog will sit down and stay there until it is told otherwise or dies of old age. When the dog is staying still you can put it in two modes, passive or aggressive, in the passive modes it only attacks things that attack it. in aggressive it barks when a player outside your guild or unit is within a large radius and then attacks them when they get closer or if the player attacks them from a distance. It would be nice to have two breeds for guarding or hunting but one still be awesome. And I think requiring skill is important so that you could restrict the amount of dogs one person can have outside of the doghouse. Like 0-29 you can have 1 dog outside, 30-59 you can have 2 dogs outside, 60-89 you can have 3 dogs outside and 90 -100 you can have 4 dogs outside. Also with a low skill there could be a chance of failure in your dog commands to add to the realism. Last of all I think it would be fantastic to have the ability to name your dogs, thanks for reading.

I really like this idea; I think that even if the dog only barked and didn't actually attack it would be a great improvement. Anytime someone is within your claim that isn't in the guild the dog starts barking. At some point the animal (attack dog) has to look different then the wolf so people don't accidently start wars over pets.

Love, love, love this idea. Here's how I would like to see it implemented:
At level 90 in Animal Lore, OR, at level 0 in Dog Training, you can tame a Wolf into a Pet Dog that will follow you around.
Add a skill called "Dog Training." Using that skill, you can pet your dog (lvl 0), train it simple commands and tricks like Sit, Stay, Go Home, Fetch (for light objects) (lvl 30). At higher levels, you can train to to be a Hunting Dog (lvl 60), a Guard Dog (lvl 90), or an Attack Dog (lvl 100).
To regulate overuse of Attack Dogs, here are some ideas:

    1. Limit number of dogs in general, or Attack Dogs in particular, to 1 per player. (I personally don't like this idea. I think since there are no NPCs, we should be allowed to have unlimited dogs.)
    2. To train an Attack Dog, you have to be lvl 100 in Dog Training.
    3. You cannot command a dog that another person has trained...
    4. And/or, you cannot command a dog unless you are the same level required to train it.
    5. You can't convert any trained dog to another trained dog (i.e. you can't train a Hunting Dog to be an Attack dog).
    6. Dogs are high-maintenance; they eat a LOT of meat.

Other features that I would like:
-The dog reverts back to a wolf if you forget to feed it. Good idea, Stewbailey!
-You can name your dog. +1, wupang!
-If you are lost, and you have trained your dog Go Home, it will lead you home.

I am a dog lover and have trained several. FWIW. :)

First of all I love the game, but I would like them to tame the wolves for the protection of the village or even for hunting.
They could even have kennels to raise them once they were tamed.

I love for the dogs but the idea of taming the dogs to wolves will be injustice with the dogs themselves. I would prefer to train my dog to look that nobody must claim my property on my back. On airlines that required travel with pet permit, only small dogs and cats that can fit in special carriers under the seat are allowed in the cabin. Their owners must care for them during any layovers. Some airlines may not allow...

These dogs are a good breed but them as a pet, I don’t know. I am much more interested in knowing Can Cats Eat Worms? I have cats and they are running after worms.
