Furniture useability

89
Rather than sitting on the ground to rest. Which might be the most basic resting place. Introduce 'Furniture useability'.

Examples:

Bench, Chair, Bed.

In that, you can sit on the bench or Chair and even the bed. Or lay down on the bed.

Possible affects:

Bench, raises the speed of endurance recovery. x1.2. (Benefits, perhaps more than one person may sit on the bench).

Chair, raises the speed of endurance recovery. x1.5. (Benefits, better recovery, however only one person).

Bed, raises the speed of endurance recovery x2. (May recover endurance or heal faster).

Thanks. In the game, after someone heals you. It say something along the lines of 'bed rest'. So this is just a natural addition to that.

I like the idea of bed rest as well; I think if you have someone standing by you with healing skill (much like combat formations) you should be able to heal even faster. I also think that healing should require some type of material (herbs, linen cloth and maybe evens some silk for stiches).

These would be great additions to the healing section. Alchemy could benefit as well, make a potion: Pain killer, etc...

I'd like to add the feature of being able to look around and engage with objects (rooted but not stunned), allowing people to sit around a table and discuss things, eat/drink (certain actions disabled, new ones possible).
Should be simple to make an animation for it (like when you target and mount a horse, in this case a bed, chair or throne).

It seems furniture usability is a very basic function. For roleplay, it's essential. If they could just implement being able to sit in a chair and lay down on a bed, it would be awesome. The bedrest/healing and all that would be nice, but not essestial. Being able to use the furniture you build is.

When it's dark, my character has to go sit awkwardly on the bed rather than lay down.....it's awkward because when she sits, the camera goes under her dress (even in third person), which gives the whole thing a strange viewpoint. Eating each meal while standing also feels awkward and unnatural. I don't think sleep is necessary because it would complicate things tremendously, but laying and sitting on the furniture is in the works I hope.

Definitly needed, extension to "furniture" that has a use would help immersion a lot too.

    Examples:
-) Using an alchemy table could trigger animations of using the glasses, distiller - and so on - of the table
-) Using a barrel could trigger an animation of bowing into the barrel and rummaging around
-) Using a chest could trigger an animation of kneeing down on one knee, opening and rummaging around
-) Cleaning a loom could trigger shoveling animations or the like

I guess something like this might be planned, but I think its definitly important to have - identification of what others are doing exactly helps a lot.

There's a lot of both mechanical and cosmetic beauty that this could add to the game if the developers choose to go this route.

Great suggestion, this is truely needed! Usability and clear animations when using furniture would give a much better feel to the game. Im pretty sure something like this might be planned already, but who knows when things like that can take priority.

This is a great idea, maybe house modules could be added in LIF:YO before the MMO comes out. Overall this is a great idea

From recent reading of the MMO dev page. Sitting is being added. So this is an excellent start. Thanks to everyone for the support.
