Grass planting and growing

31
It would be so useful if we could have grass regrowing on bare soil or if we could gather grass seeds so we can plant them or for example you can gather flowers and then plant them causing soil to grow grass. Other small thing which could change the look and feel of teh game would be a system where if you gather grass/wild plants from the tile, the grass gets "shorter" as it would be after cutting it. That way you can have wild grass very high on plains and shorter one around you house.

Not sure why everyone wants to get grass seeds, grass spreads very quickly without the need of any seeds. Not sure why people in the medieval days would bother with this. Maybe flowers sure, but unless we're getting wheat, barely, or whatever, doubt we'd be farming it. Way back my grandma had a farm and she had a lot of land filled with wild grass to feed her animals. No cultivating was require.

It really would be nice. Grass doesn't seem to grow back, and in reality grass below a building would slowly die, and grass that many people walk on regulary will be shroter or trampled down. In regions were it is eaten by animals it will be short too.
Since nothing like that is implemented, regulating the length of grass could be done by people that want to do it.

Grass doesn't grow back reliably. In my experience, sometimes the grass texture from another tile will spread to the disturbed earth tile, but if you select the disturbed grassy-looking tile it still counts as plowed.

I agree that it would be really nice to be able to either
    a) leave disturbed earth alone for long enough for grass to grow back -- my personal preference --
    b) have the ability to encourage grass to grow back on disturbed tiles (with grass seed or water or whatever)

As to why people in the middle ages would bother with grass, many villages had communal grazing pastures so they would definitely care about having grass. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell "wild grass" doesn't grow back in the game at this point.
