Allow the ability to place own personal waypoints on the map for navigation back to your base or certain POI's. It seems simple enough, right click on the map and have an option to place a waypoint or remove a waypoint. The waypoints don't need to show up on the actual game, only on the map.

Landmarks and such are nice and all... but back in the day people could take and write notes on their map... So let us name things on our maps. Within a guild you should be able to edit the map for the guild.
