I am going to agree and disagree, I will agree on the terms of the crops are not going run away and it will be quicker to access the fields and yes early in game you do not always have the resources to build large fields but I will disagree because I feel it looks more realistic and personally I like it to look separated in addition maybe in future you could add fences to fields if you like the look of them but all in all I like my colony to run quicker and smother so yes fences do not seem necessary

In a game where you must hold on tight to recorces you don't build much that isn't necessery. For an example you don't need a fancy building to collect berries. You just go out in forrest and bring em home. You don't need to have fancy buidling to hunt. You go out in the forrest and hunt. And so on. But then you build stuff to do it more effective, but hey - it's a game...

to add to that, i think that if people are hungry they should just go out to find food instead of waiting for the all mighty ( player ) to build or produce food, once you start to run out of food its normally down hill from there, building feilds and waiting for it to grow is too long and they die like that like you said you need a building to get food why can they just go get it ?

Yeah, for sure! In another game (that I don't dare to mention) there is a mod where you can build simpler buildings that doesn't require a lot wood or work, but are less effective. I mean, you can chop a lot of firewood with just an axe and a chopping block. And it should be more like reality when clearing the forest for agricultural land and use the logs for fuel or timber without building fences. But then again, it's a game.

banished ?

Yes. Banished is a great game thanks to all great modders, RedKetchup is my personal favourite. Forest Village will take off as soon as modding is possible. There is a great number of bright and creative people out there that will make this game great too.

I like the fences on the fields that are in the game right now. They are ascetically pleasing. Also, while things will still actually wander into your crops in game you build a fence to keep out the pests.

Also, where I am from you will be hard pressed to find a farm field that isn't fenced in.

I'm not against an option to have no fence fields but keep the fenced ones!

I guess it's depending where you live. In my country it's common to NOT have fences around cropfields. And I really like you suggestion to have it optional. Good idea!

I like this as an option just like I can have in Banished with, say, the Colonial Charter mod. (Btw... if Banished or one of it's mods did something well, I'm fine LIF:FV doing something similar. LIF:FV will still be a different game even.)
