I have been a bit disappointed that the Monk's Outfit, despite having a prerequisite for wearing like all other outfits, doesn't give any sort of bonuses.
I understand that being a minor skill, Piety could be abused if given too much buffs. But there must be some way to give the outfit some benefits that is balanced, considering the difficulty to level it up?
Some of my friends and I have been brainstorming on ideas. One of the more interesting ones were having a formation specifically for priests. I wanted to incorporate some of the ideas I've been reading on the forums, adding a new modification to blessings that requires a Monk's Outfit to unlock: turns the blessings from single-target to area of effect.
IMO, there are several reasons that this would not make the skill too overpowered:
1) It doesn't increase the benefits of the blessings on individuals. It simply allows the priest to apply it to multiple people with one single action.
2) Restrictions such as cooldown and no-stacking can still be applied.
3) Even if someone wanted to keep refreshing the cooldown for blessings in scenarios such as during battles, they would need to split their concentration by stopping to apply the blessings. Restrictions like limited radius or limited number of targets in the zone could help create some counterplay.
4) It fits into the theme of the role.
5) Could make the area of effect only be applied to players that are of friendly status with your guild to avoid blessing enemies. The right-click version of blessings could be applied to individuals for foreigners.
