I think this is a cool idea but some how i have a feeling there will be enough dick heads limiting amount of apple trees near the spawns for it to be too higher demand to begin with. Because even though the alignment system is to stop most forms of trolling it doesn't affect ruining natures food supply so you will have people running around taking the saplings and cutting them down to starve the less fortunate folk.

I have to disagree. That level of realism is not needed.

Apples are not the only early game food source in the game. You can also get food from fishing, hunting, farming, and gathering.
