Thinking of Getting a Poodle

0
Hello! I’m seriously considering adopting a Poodle, but I’m not sure if they’d be the right fit for me. I’ve read they’re great for families and highly intelligent, but what about their exercise needs? I work from home, so I’d have time to train, but I also live in a small space. Would that be okay for a Poodle? Any advice on finding reputable breeders or shelters would also be appreciated.

Hi there! Poodles are wonderful pets for all kinds of homes, even apartments, as long as their exercise and mental stimulation needs are met. Their intelligence means they thrive on training and games, so working from home is a big plus! You might want to consider a Miniature or Toy Poodle, as they’re smaller and adapt well to smaller living spaces. When it comes to finding the right pup, I’ve had great luck with this resource on puppies in New York https://wearepuppies.com/puppies/. It’s a great place to start, whether you’re adopting or looking for a breeder.

I think you’ll really enjoy having a Poodle! I don’t own one yet, but a friend does, and they’re incredibly fun and loving dogs. The smaller ones, especially, seem to do just fine in apartments. Keep us updated on your journey—I’m curious to hear what you decide!
