Free Oneway Ticket Transfer

Post by Agathon » 12 Jan 2018, 00:44

Are you going to be offering a one way ticket transfer to new servers?

If people on the regular want to play on the now 2x PVP server, you should allow one way final ticket transfers for those who have been supporting you for years.

Devs have said there are no plans to refund/replace or otherwise grant new tickets outside of normal means.

I think we should be allowed to get a free ticket for every ticket we purchased but only on the condition that these tickets resets your character and allows you to start a new character on the new server for free.

Anything but that is unfair to newcomers and kills the idea of a "new" server for "new" people.

P.S: No, I'm not a new player.

It's now clear that for EU there is not going to be a "new" PVP server. Instead, Avalon will be changed to a PVP server and the new servers will both be standard ruleset.

From Discord:

Bobik - Today at 2:48 AM
EU:
1. Avalon server will be advertised and considered as a PvP server.
2. Fannland will have a vanilla rule set and will be enabled once we see that the player's demand is higher than the servers capacities.
3. Skjultland will have a vanila rule set

This being the case, existing players on Avalon (and the US equivalent, assuming the same changes are made there) should be given the choice:

a) Remain on Avalon
b) Wipe your character in return for a ticket

This means that existing players who are less interested in PVP can make a fresh start on a new server. It will also create some space on Avalon for new players from Steam who want to choose a PVP server.

The first world isn't really filled right now. We have 4,3k players tops. I belive having some extra servers as backup in case a massive income of players come to our gates but making them so diffrent was really a low blow.

I belived the idea of this project was to accumulate those 10k players with diffrent playstyles (PvP,RP, PvE) and let them live together and balance each other.
In the twitch meeting it was said that there may be other servers and it sounded like it was an option when there will be enough people and suddenly boom 4 mroe servers pop up.

Also people got packs because it was said they will get an earlier start, earleir start from who? People can look up the maps and know how many claims are here now, a lot of people will try to start at a fresh world as we're already branded as bloddthirsty barbarians here. So not many new recruits probably.

The fact is that Avalon is having its ruleset changed after people have become established. It's totally clear that this has been done mainly to satisfy the big guilds who wanted less restrictions on PVP. It's just extra JHs "for now" (as Bobik put it) but it's obvious that there will be further pro PVP changes. In fact, it's clear that the big guilds are calling the shots, and in future Bitbox will be forced to change the ruleset in accordance with their wishes "because it's the PVP server and it says so on the description."

Now, I can understand why Bitbox made this decision. It was forced on them. These guilds demanded PVP, they refused to move to a new server unless they could keep their character progression (which clearly couldn't be allowed) so Bitbox had little choice but to turn Avalon into the PVP server rather than setting up a new server as PVP.

I accept that this was probably the right decision - or if not the right one, the only one they had.

But ... they also have a responsibility to all the other players on Avalon, those who want more of a balance between PVP and PVE. These people signed up and spent their money to be part of a standard ruleset server, and that is being taken away from them.

I am not even saying there should be character transfers, that would be unfair to new Steam players on the new servers. What the players on Avalon (and my comments apply to the NA equivalent) deserve is the choice... stay on Avalon, or exchange a character wipe for a ticket. That way they can start again on a standard ruleset server if they wish, since that is what they paid for in the first place.

I believe it is entirely the correct decision to let PVPers have their PVP server.
To each their own. More players being satisfied is always something I will welcome.

I wasn't willing to deal with no PVP at all like on the RP server either, hence I joined Avalon.

Now that Avalon suddenly caters to an anti-Real Life ruleset, without having received a free character transfer, I must admit that this really went a notch too far on the anti-consumer line.

I would have been entirely content with my character being wiped and receiving a new one on the new vanilla server.
An option to contact customer support for this to be handled wouldn't have been too much to ask for at all.

If there was hope on the developers end of getting me to pay additional money for a new character, then I must sincerely decline that hope.

Nice money grab devs, changing the rules of a server and not allowing people who dont want to be on the server to leave without paying.

Pathetic.

To be fair, those who wanted a hardcore PVP server would have faced a similar issue if the rules didnt change and a new PVP server was made.

The decision that was made now is obviously worse in this specific circumstance as an already existing ruleset people wanted to join was now changed into something completely different.

That doesnt change the fact that the harm could have been easily prevented with free character-transfers either way.
That would have been the objectively neutral and bare minimum no-brainer option.

My ticket was used to join the Vanilla-server a few days ago, not the PVP server.

Until this issue has been resolved, I cease to support this game until the ability to play the game on my terms is restored.
No doubt about it that this will affect my Steam-review.

I agree. My guild and myself are now boycotting this game and this will affect my steam review.

It's a no brainer for free ticket transfers.

Last night in the chat with Bobik, there was about 60+ people there voicing concerns and asking questions.

I will tell you roughly what he said about tickets and character transfers to the new servers.

Now I am paraphrasing because it was 9 hours ago and I have slept since then.

Bobik, basically said, no there will be no refunds of tickets if you decide to delete your character and try and go to the new server, you will have to buy a new ticket like everyone else. Character transfers to the new servers are not possible yet, perhaps in a month or two if they get time to do it.

Now I admit I overreacted myself when I first saw the news, now I have thought about it. And talked with Bobik about it, I understand some of the issues. I am not upset by it, I dont agree with it but I am not as mad about it. He is making some changes to the Buyan server and the Avalon server to be more "PVP friendly". There will be increased length and number of Judgement Hours. They will be increased to 2 hours per, and on Weds, Fri, Sat and Sun primetimes.

So there is that, and he also stated that they are working very hard on fixing the IB issues, they hope with the new patch they can track what is causing the crashes in IB, and fix them. Once those are fixed Sieges will be next.

This is what I got from the discussion, there was more discussed but it doesnt really pertain to here.

Quite frankly, every person I talked to so far on this matter didnt even want a character transfer.
Seeing as the vanilla server is a clean slate, this wouldn't even be a disadvantage.

What one would expect is a deletion of the old character and a new ticket.
That's within technical means on the developers end and obviously a completely neutral thing to be demanded here.
This solution would only be a problem, if the developers are eyeballing possible earnings due to a problem they themselves created.
I don't need to tell you that this would be unreasonable though and I am sure that the developers themselves wouldn't want to accept the situation they created as such.

So RIP to the smaller guilds who cant put all their numbers on for every single judgement hour.

Kudos to the big groups. Is pretty much what bobik is saying, cool!

All we want is the ability to delete our characters and reuse the ticket one time on the new server. Many of us dont have the time to commit to that kind of JH, and we shouldnt have to pay to move over because Bobik is changing an EXISTING server.

Bunch of greedy devs.

LOL, no.
Not like they can do anything to a small guild with a tier 1 monument anyway. If everything is on the city claim, then these small guilds have nothing to worry about. And if they have expanded beyond their means, by upgrading their monument to some stupid level because they want a massive castle and there are only 10 of them playing... well that is stupid of them.

If you cant defend it, dont build it. It is a variation on the Eve rule, "Fly what you can afford to lose."

Bobik was asked about this, and his response was simple and honest.
No, it isnt going to happen. Because if it is handled that way, there will be an exodus from the current servers to the new servers, only to find there is the same problems as the current servers because of load. Thus fixing NOTHING.

Right now with that not happening you wont see this migration of players from the existing servers to the new servers because they wont want to have to buy a new ticket. But if they do buy a new ticket they wont lose their current characters.

I feel this is a good choice, it will in the long run solve or prevent more problems than it will cause.

What most people fail to see is the amount of people that will leave the current servers delete their characters, then submit tickets to get new tickets. This increases the load on the developers, which means less work getting done. Then you have on top of this, the number of people who get to the new servers and realize this is not what they wanted, or it isnt any better, and want to go back to their old claims and locations... only to have to delete their characters and buy new tickets or try and petition to get new tickets back.....

See the issue?

I do see the issue that their forcing the more PVE orientated players of this game to stay on a server that is now being changed to exactly what they dont want to be on.

Or forced to pay more money, because Bobik is as greedy as they come.

So, you pay ONCE for a ticket to Avalon and get some skills trained.
Then they re-designate it as a "PVP Oriented" server, so you pay AGAIN for a ticket to start a new character on a standard ruleset server, which is what you paid for in the first place.
Then after a month of grinding all your skills AGAIN they decide to grab some more cash by flogging character transfers, and some guy transfers a maxed out toon from Avalon and kicks your arse.

Amazing plan, and wonderful loyalty to all of us who have supported the game all these years. It just gets better and better, doesn't it?

Increasing length and number of Judgement Hours not lead to "PVP friendly", it lead to "24/7 players friendly" or "PK friendly". It's not a game when you came from work 2 days and can't do anything among defending all that can't be fited in city (cause to 2 hours of massacre you need to prepare a lot). Or all players will don't use any crown lands, and will spam town claims, and don't play on JH, or just will try to shit to their neighbor.

JH is more sabotage/fun-event  then pvp-event. IB can be more good pvp, if they will have any goal. Now they are useless even sieges will be introduced.

Also one strange thing - it's a game about feudal life. Land - is the main value in feudal society, but there are land have no value. Only that you can do - destroy enemy's base (only after the introduction of sieges), and don't hane any reason to fight (IB) without it.

I believe you missed the issue.
This isnt about character migration for no reason whatsoever.

A few days ago my group wanted to check out the MMO now.
Seeing the Steam-release coming soon.

Used the ticket to get to the Vanilla server with the vanilla ruleset i.g. paying to get there.

A few days later the ticket is now void and the vanilla server is suddenly a different one and those characters are now stuck on a PVP server.

We'd now have to pay extra money to play on the server we paid for in the first place.

I'll spell it out for you:
This is pulling customers/supporters over the barrel and it will happen again.
Time of developers is irrelevant, this problem was caused on their end, so I'm not the one who has decided to cause this issue here.

You can have it your way, but don't expect anyone to value the game and the developers in that case with good reviews and support.

There is no vanilla game, the pvp ruleset is the vanilla, I was in CBT and the JH has always meant to be daily, that's why people are so mad.
I came to Avalon to have this thrill, at release no JH, then only a weekly JH, now 4 JH a week when 1 JH a day were promised.
You have to understand long time backer of this game.
Those pvp ruleset are not even close to what should have been Vanilla in term of pvp.

What you think is "vanilla" is not.

Nobody wins

It has ALWAYS been a PVP server, there is NO PVE server in this game, not even the RP server is PVE.

Again, there is NO PVE server, all of the servers even the RP server are PVP servers. They have not changed anything, if you dont like JH then dont be on during it. Or dont have things on your realm claim. If you are a tiny guild, think about building within your means instead of trying to build the next Disney Castle.

And please if I am offending you, read what Tetsel said, because it is the truth.

I don't want 4 2 hour long laggy ass nights a week. But now we are forced to pay to move over to the server we were ORIGINALLY on. You are absolutely the most greedy devs I've ever seen.

Omg all this cryers, pvp server omg i cant handle it.I can say what you can do join alliances be helpful. After all, the game allows you to combine the whole continent into one clame in one state so it's conceived. As was the case in the medieval war of small principalities, independent villages were attacked or become a vassal of paying taxes and get protection or die.

This is our nova goal on avalon not the guilds are not alliances but whole states and whether you are there at least a craftsman even though a builder will each contribute and there will be wars without real life who will protect you 24-7

YOU ARE ON THE SERVER YOU WERE ORIGINALLY ON!

How hard is this to understand.

This game was sold as a PVP game, not as a fking carebear love fest where everyone pretends it is Haight-Ashbury and we all stand around slapping male members together singing koombiya and roasting marsh mellows with flowers in our hair.

You must be fking dense as a stone wall. No shit we're on the server we're originally on.

They're changing the ruleset of a server already, instead of making it a new server. So the big guilds whine and bitch and stomp their feet and get their way, now we have 8 hours of lag fest a week where all the big guilds just zerg and destroy peoples shit because they have the numers to cause the server to be so laggy no one can do anything but torch buildings.

Instead of making the new server the pvp heaven that people wanted, they're forcing the current inhabitats who dont want the multiple JHs to pay to move to a new server instead of doing the obviouslly proper thing of allowing ticket transfers. Have your JHs, we don't give a flying fck. But don't force us to sit through the lag fest and not be able to do anything while the big guilds whine and bitch.

Currently 90% negative reviews on steam and climbing, RIP. Massive refunds incoming.

YOU ARE ON THE SERVER YOU WERE ORIGINALLY ON!

Avalon is a vanilla server, now it changes to become pvp.
Change rules = free transfer for people who still want to play vanilla because at the base this server should not change rules to become PVP .
Players who wanted to make the PVE had their server when Avalon was overflowing with players, why not keep Avalon in vanilla and put the other in PVP?
