Bobik - Today at 2:48 AM
EU:
1. Avalon server will be advertised and considered as a PvP server.
2. Fannland will have a vanilla rule set and will be enabled once we see that the player's demand is higher than the servers capacities.
3. Skjultland will have a vanila rule set
Peegee77 wrote:The fact is that Avalon is having its ruleset changed after people have become established. It's totally clear that this has been done mainly to satisfy the big guilds who wanted less restrictions on PVP. It's just extra JHs "for now" (as Bobik put it) but it's obvious that there will be further pro PVP changes. In fact, it's clear that the big guilds are calling the shots, and in future Bitbox will be forced to change the ruleset in accordance with their wishes "because it's the PVP server and it says so on the description."
Now, I can understand why Bitbox made this decision. It was forced on them. These guilds demanded PVP, they refused to move to a new server unless they could keep their character progression (which clearly couldn't be allowed) so Bitbox had little choice but to turn Avalon into the PVP server rather than setting up a new server as PVP.
I accept that this was probably the right decision - or if not the right one, the only one they had.
But ... they also have a responsibility to all the other players on Avalon, those who want more of a balance between PVP and PVE. These people signed up and spent their money to be part of a standard ruleset server, and that is being taken away from them.
I am not even saying there should be character transfers, that would be unfair to new Steam players on the new servers. What the players on Avalon (and my comments apply to the NA equivalent) deserve is the choice... stay on Avalon, or exchange a character wipe for a ticket. That way they can start again on a standard ruleset server if they wish, since that is what they paid for in the first place.

Pathetic.

To be fair, those who wanted a hardcore PVP server would have faced a similar issue if the rules didnt change and a new PVP server was made.
The decision that was made now is obviously worse in this specific circumstance as an already existing ruleset people wanted to join was now changed into something completely different.
That doesnt change the fact that the harm could have been easily prevented with free character-transfers either way.
That would have been the objectively neutral and bare minimum no-brainer option.
My ticket was used to join the Vanilla-server a few days ago, not the PVP server.
Until this issue has been resolved, I cease to support this game until the ability to play the game on my terms is restored.
No doubt about it that this will affect my Steam-review.

I will tell you roughly what he said about tickets and character transfers to the new servers.
Now I am paraphrasing because it was 9 hours ago and I have slept since then.
Bobik, basically said, no there will be no refunds of tickets if you decide to delete your character and try and go to the new server, you will have to buy a new ticket like everyone else. Character transfers to the new servers are not possible yet, perhaps in a month or two if they get time to do it.
Now I admit I overreacted myself when I first saw the news, now I have thought about it. And talked with Bobik about it, I understand some of the issues. I am not upset by it, I dont agree with it but I am not as mad about it. He is making some changes to the Buyan server and the Avalon server to be more "PVP friendly". There will be increased length and number of Judgement Hours. They will be increased to 2 hours per, and on Weds, Fri, Sat and Sun primetimes.
So there is that, and he also stated that they are working very hard on fixing the IB issues, they hope with the new patch they can track what is causing the crashes in IB, and fix them. Once those are fixed Sieges will be next.
This is what I got from the discussion, there was more discussed but it doesnt really pertain to here.
Agathon wrote:So RIP to the smaller guilds who cant put all their numbers on for every single judgement hour.
Kudos to the big groups. Is pretty much what bobik is saying, cool!
Roflknife wrote:
Quite frankly, every person I talked to so far on this matter didnt even want a character transfer.
Seeing as the vanilla server is a clean slate, this wouldn't even be a disadvantage.
What one would expect is a deletion of the old character and a new ticket.
That's within technical means on the developers end and obviously a completely neutral thing to be demanded here.
This solution would only be a problem, if the developers are eyeballing possible earnings due to a problem they themselves created.
I don't need to tell you that this would be unreasonable though and I am sure that the developers themselves wouldn't want to accept the situation they created as such.

Hodo wrote:What most people fail to see is the amount of people that will leave the current servers delete their characters, then submit tickets to get new tickets. This increases the load on the developers, which means less work getting done. Then you have on top of this, the number of people who get to the new servers and realize this is not what they wanted, or it isnt any better, and want to go back to their old claims and locations... only to have to delete their characters and buy new tickets or try and petition to get new tickets back.....
See the issue?
Agathon wrote:I do see the issue that their forcing the more PVE orientated players of this game to stay on a server that is now being changed to exactly what they dont want to be on.
Or forced to pay more money, because Bobik is as greedy as they come.
Roflknife wrote:
Used the ticket to get to the Vanilla server with the vanilla ruleset i.g. paying to get there.
A few days later the ticket is now void and the vanilla server is suddenly a different one and those characters are now stuck on a PVP server.
We'd now have to pay extra money to play on the server we paid for in the first place.
I'll spell it out for you:
This is pulling customers/supporters over the barrel and it will happen again.
Time of developers is irrelevant, this problem was caused on their end, so I'm not the one who has decided to cause this issue here.
You can have it your way, but don't expect anyone to value the game and the developers in that case with good reviews and support.
Uthrain wrote:I think we should be allowed to get a free ticket for every ticket we purchased but only on the condition that these tickets resets your character and allows you to start a new character on the new server for free.
Anything but that is unfair to newcomers and kills the idea of a "new" server for "new" people.
P.S: No, I'm not a new player.
Agathon wrote:I don't want 4 2 hour long laggy ass nights a week. But now we are forced to pay to move over to the server we were ORIGINALLY on. You are absolutely the most greedy devs I've ever seen.
Currently 90% negative reviews on steam and climbing, RIP. Massive refunds incoming.

YOU ARE ON THE SERVER YOU WERE ORIGINALLY ON!
How hard is this to understand.
This game was sold as a PVP game, not as a fking carebear love fest where everyone pretends it is Haight-Ashbury and we all stand around slapping male members together singing koombiya and roasting marsh mellows with flowers in our hair.

You must be fking dense as a stone wall. No shit we're on the server we're originally on.
They're changing the ruleset of a server already, instead of making it a new server. So the big guilds whine and bitch and stomp their feet and get their way, now we have 8 hours of lag fest a week where all the big guilds just zerg and destroy peoples shit because they have the numers to cause the server to be so laggy no one can do anything but torch buildings.
Instead of making the new server the pvp heaven that people wanted, they're forcing the current inhabitats who dont want the multiple JHs to pay to move to a new server instead of doing the obviouslly proper thing of allowing ticket transfers. Have your JHs, we don't give a flying fck. But don't force us to sit through the lag fest and not be able to do anything while the big guilds whine and bitch.
