The 2nd quest objective for the "Forging" quest leads you to a box that is in the newbie town claim area.

When you get to it and try to interact with it, you are unable to get any ore.

There seems to be several bugs with this quest.

1. You can't get ore from the box as described above.
2. You can use the kilns by the blacksmith to make charcoal.
3. You can't have 30 Material Preparation to make charcoal as a new character.

There may be other issues. I got stuck at this point.

Please make a new character and try to run through the quest in order to find all issues. A dev needs to do a basic run through the quest to verify it is possible to complete as a new character.

The issue with this quest should now be resolved after the recent patch where we reworked some of the quests on newbie island. Please let us know if the problem still persists.

Seems like nothing worked on newbie island for me. Luckily enough I have youtube and google to get info from. Spending two days trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do is a HORRIBLE implementation of a tutorial.

I've already played similar survival games, so not too too much of a learning curve theory wise. Just a matter of learning which keys perform which actions.

This game is feels like the love child of Dayz and Wurm Online.
