The Duchy of Wessex has restarted their server, with all MMO server settings. Once the new town is setup, we will begin drilling and formation fighting.

Come join our other new and returning members and become part of long standing feudal society with incredible depth and breadth.

Welcome to the guild! I think we have mixed time zones ranging from Eastern time, to Alaskan, to Greenwich (Britain). We manage to get players in together on teamspeak and in game.

In anticipation of the upcoming improved claim system, the Duchy Of Wessex is moving hosts, probably this weekend. The new hosting provider will allow us to increase the over all performance (CPU, Memory), and will be located in more centralized location.

Now is a great time to join us and experience the richness of our guild.

The Duchy of Wessex has migrated to a new hosting provider, as well as successfully migrated the database.

You will need to find the Duchy Of Wessex server and re-add it to your favorites, as the IP address has changed.

The public server is set to launch on Saturday, 12am UTC. The focus of the server is to encourage PVP with an RP focus.

Our server is up and running. One of the features we have that is unique to our server is a random loot generator.

Why?

Currently with guild claims it is fairly easy to protect your stfff from getting taken if you are killed by raiders. The solution of 'judgement hour' doesn't really work because then *everything* is vulnerable. Our loot generator bridges this divide by rewarding raiders with some loot, but also protecting most of your assets.

The way it works is on the generation of a grave stone a randomly generated item is created and placed there. The loot comes from a specially designed custom table, and the quality is randomly determined as well.

There are some restrictions to prevent abuse. Such as if you are in the same guild no loot gets generated. There is also a 'cooldown' so loot isn't generated for killing a player multiple times. Getting killed by animals doesn't generate loot either.

We have some other custom features as well. Our server is named "Duchy Of Wessex". Stop by, create a character, and join the fun.

Wanted to provide an update for those who are interested.

The Duchy officially took a break from LIF in anticipation of the official YO release and MMO beta. We love the game, but going through the same motions over and over again become a bit... boring. Besides, this time gave us the opportunity to say goodbye to our families and co-workers over several months.

Now that a beta date has been announced, we are beginning preparations for one last YO fling with some invited guests for a full on, PvP bash. Then, come beta, we will be transitioning to the MMO and cutting off all contact with the real world.

Lot's of old names still in Wessex and we're looking to grow once more to the greatness of old.

Many people old and new are mainly waiting till beta, but still a fair few of us looking at continuing to play LIF:YO on and off till then so come join us.
