Minigames Marathon

Post by Telakh » 05 Dec 2013, 10:01

Hey folks! Many of you have seen the Marathon game but there were no comments, wishes and discussions on forums and I wonder why is so? Besides, don't hesitate to get some practice in future ingame craftsmanship and help developers to gather statistics and your opinions.

And here is the Craft Minigames Tutorial video to prevent further questions.

I had not seen it yet, it's pretty cool, especially the cutting wood, construction materials and forge...
the minigames will be made in all actions or you can skip the minigame?

Developers have mentioned that it is how the craft process will look like but the game results will not affect the craft results greatly. There will be some small influence only.

You can choose to play the minigame or use autocraft option.

In that case no worries, you can simply use auto-craft option and if it's crafting, then it will just repeat itself until resources are depleted.

And if it's woodcutting or something then it will also save your time, but I guess ammount of wood from the log will be smaller.

Yet auto-craft leads to grinding.

There will always be need for tweaking till the auto-craft is useful but not mandatory. And small changes will tip the scales. I doubt any developer ever got it right.

But what is the used of auto-craft unless you intend to beat up quality with quantity? Аnd that makes no sence.

I know it's not relevant to crafting, but what about some form of mini-game for combat training?

Say for instance, during actual combat, there is a steady rise in skill, whereas combat training (could be attacking a dummy with a sword/bow etc.) would give you a better skill increase?

I guess you could say I copied the idea from the ES games (Skyrim, Oblivion) in which you can pay to train skills faster?

I suppose one way you could make this viable is that the training dummy has less and less effect as you progress in skill, more of a starter skill up?

What are your thoughts? I understand if this is a terrible idea, I just woke up and it was the first thing on my mind :D .

Sounds like a good idea for me. UO contained training dummies to raise baisic skills from 0 to 25.

As for real skills, I think the best way to practice them is M&B. :)
