After the removal of hilt hits for one handed weapons, shield blocking can easily be bypassed by simply running up close to the slower shield user and swinging wildly, bypassing the shield even though your clipping into it's animation.
This forces you keep distance for no reason and block very directionally to even have a chance of blocking, even though your enemy is actually putting his face into your shield, standing face to face against you. This would not have been possible in the past where hilt hits made sure you couldn't hug and swing wildly.
I'm not saying we should bring back hilt hits in every case, but activating hilt hits during attacks on a blocking opponent, might be a very good idea.
At the moment it's not worthwhile blocking with a shield in melee combat and trying to shield bash someone has always been near impossible, unless target is out of stamina and standing perfectly still.
On the matter of shield bashing, I would like to see a rework that made it abit more realistic, making it more of a standard attack that deals light blunt damage and has a resistable chance to give a small 1 second stun, based on the targets constitution - giving that stat some more value.
(Hilt hits - aka. failing to do damage because your to close to the target)
