When I give the signal to immediately collect crops from the field, all available people helps the farmer - because winter is coming ;)

Currently only farmers harvest the crops.

I would love to see the option for farmers getting help carrying the stuff to barns, so they can focus on collecting.
    A few ideas:
    • extra hands that harvest & carry
    • extra hands that just carry, letting farmers only harvest and leave the crops in baskets on the ground
    • carts next to field with some capacity, that can carry a lot of crops in a bulk
    • wagons that have more capacity but require a few people to drag them, or a horse
    • smaller barns that can be set up next to the field, or are even build into the filed. When winter comes, the farmers would then empty the small barns and move the crops to village.

In the old days, the harvest was very important thing, and everyone helped to harvest the crops. A matter of survival.

I on board for the whole wagon and/or cart idea, it's not only a very useful tool it could be something the carpenters shop can make besides primitive tools. However there is a work around making sure the farmer(s) get the harvest done on time. An educated villager is very proficient but even if you don't have trained people you can make a field just large enough for 2 farmers but only use one to plant and water (have a well very close and a path to the barn) if he/she falls behind you can assign another farmer then go into first person mode and use the horn to increase productivity of the two. I know it is a lot of micro managing but I'm "thinking" that this is what the Dev's had in mind when they implemented the posses villager mode.

I support the original idea here. Banished did this well, without any effort on the part of the player:

However, Banished didn't limit this behavior to farms. Laborer, Builder, it didn't matter:
