Sandbox MMORPGs are online multiplayer rpg games that don’t restrict your travel through the open world MMORPG. More info on open persistent worlds at Open, persistent virtual 3d worlds and what they entail. Life is Feudal fits in with other open world PC games in the sandbox genre, as you are not restricted to just roaming the world. Life is Feudal enables you to shape the very ground you stand on, and then build all manner of medieval constructs.
Terraforming is your ability shape the terrain around you, the terrain being organized in a grid pattern. Life is Feudals terraforming features a physics system, differing greatly to systems seen in other online sandbox games. This means players are unable to construct floating sky fortress’, or have any floating terrain grids of any type.
Life is Feudals terrain will feature grids instead of blocks, and players are able to interact with these grids rather than place and remove them. You are able to raise, lower and flatten terrain; digging tunnels is also an important aspect of LiF terraforming. If not reinforced, a tunnel will collapse due to the weight of the grids above it. The same system is implemented for building..
Free building means a you are able to construct your buildings anywhere, within reasonable limitations. Buildings can’t be placed under water, too close to other buildings or on uneven terrain. Players can build by either using predefined or modular buildings.
Predefined building means you have to select a building that a developer has already prepared from a menu, and then place it where they wish for it to got. Once placed, a construction site will appear, and progress on the site must be completed before the building will be useable.
Modular building means you are able to place sections of buildings, such as walls and floors, to create a custom building. The building must be structurally sound, and you should make sure you have enough space before beginning. This aside, all buildings will suffer decay.
Decay simply refers to the amount of time since a building has received maintenance. The building will appear visually decrepit, resembling a ruin. Decay will affect a buildings durability, but can be rectified with regular maintenance.
In summary, Life is Feudal is sandbox MMORPG that players can not only wander the world, but shape it. Terraforming, predefined and modular building allow you to build your own virtual world; with varying levels of interactivity, customizability and efficiency.
