If a tree falls in the woods and it is within 'x' radius of any one of your buildings, it should remain on the ground as gatherable firewood. It can despawn come next season so the floor isn't too, too busy.

I upvoted because I like your reply to your own post
However, I don't really care one way or the other trees stick around... unless it affects performance. If keeping track of trees impacts performance, then I definitely want an option to turn it off

Ha, thanks. Yeah which is why I think it should despawn if not collected like bushes do. I've been in forests and have been camping. Downed trees are still good for firewood. -

0So basically the effect would be what?
Now: A tree lives x years and then collapses and is lost
Then: A tree lives x years and is additionally y years on the ground, so lives x+y years
So, why not change the lifetime of a tree (from x to x+y)? Or change nothing at all?
I don't see any impact on the game. -
