I'm mainly looking for game play content, and would like to see some aspects in Forest Village further developed:
- The initial map when starting the game, as the minimap should be disabled. Map-making should be an in-game goal.
- Resource (rock, clay, ore) areas are now random patches. They better would be specific places the player has to look for (discover), and build connections with, which also enhances the game play
- Settlers should also have a life besides work (pub, gathering to chat, sleep, play, shelter for the rain...) Several building might be dedicated to this.
- Wild animals should be handled in a more natural and challenging way, not just randomly walking wherever they happen to be
- Crime could also be a challenge to handle (theft, destruction, faction forming, violence,...) and ways to counter it.
- Story-telling evens could be implemented: mysteries, where do the settlers come from, why are they here, what is their goal... hidden messages, notes found with indication of danger, treasure or trouble. Something that slowly evolves, but each game is different.
- ...
In short, try to make so that the village building has a purpose, a goal.
About beautification:
- the evening/morning fog is enoying. Some foggy whether periods are fine, but each and every evening and morning? And night time has no purpose at the moment.
- No lights at night, no torches, no lit windows, no lanterns?
- The rock texture is ugly
- The option "mountainous" is barely hilly. Please make mountains when you say you are generating mountains.
- Nothing has sound? Rain? Settler's actions?
- Only straight orthogonal roads? No bendy, curved or even diagonal roads?
- Rain + Sun = Rainbow
About UI:
- Edge scroll?
- Camera rotation = smooth with innertion, but Camera movement = hard with discrete steps.
That were my impression after having finished the tutorial. Now I'll start a new game. Until later...
