Assigning carriers

I think it would make a great improvement on the gameplay to assign carriers, whom only job it is to take produced ressources to the warehouse or a builduing place, and to bring ressources to wherever these are needed. That would make the work much more efficient, especially on longer distances to the warehouse, villagers will walk ages to just bring a few logs to the warehouse, walk back to their work place, work a little, then walk back to their home for eating and so on.... I'm not sure how to balance this, but I think it would make a good addition to the game.

    Perhaps the radius that idle specialists will act as labourers just needs to be reduced a little. So they don't end up so far from their actual job?

    I'm thinking about something like in Cultures: You can assign a carrier to a workplace and he will take care of transporting goods to and from the workplace.
    This would increase the effitcency of a chosen building AND if you have enough people, you will save buildspace because you will be able to plant potatoes twice a year if you want.
