Taming Wolves

28
Please make us able to tame wolves into dogs and make us able to have only one dog at a time i think that it whould be a very good idea to have them for hunting and even protecting you.a new skill tree war dog training like making the dogs stun animals for a short amount of time (not humans).having a lot of commands for the dog, putting the dog into guard mode to guard a place when you leave from there like putting it inside your house near the chest.sending the dog to loot corpses, bags, herbs and having the dog for scouting barking when a enemy is near and pointing where the enemy is :)

"sending the dog to loot corpses, bags, herbs"

I see what you are trying to say here man but that would just be really unrealistic as my opinion. but overall your other suggesting for taming a wolf making it into a friendly companion would be awesome. you could probably have the option to play mini games with your said companion like fetch or something. It would be great to have both PvP and PvE aspects for the dogs opposed to them just being killing machines. yeah going back to your idea with the dog being able to loot would be silly but your idea to guard a certain area would be awesome essentially you can have them watch your back while you empty your enemy's tombstone.
P.S Man you should add more onto this idea I think you got something here that the true LIF community would support.

Maybe not taming wolves as that happened 10,000+ years before the game setting... but domesticated dogs for hunting, hell yeah as long as it doesn't loot/carry stuff for you lol

I think instead you should get trash from consuming food that stacks as a soil type that draws in wild dogs that you can tame.

This idea is very realistic, just because it may be difficult to make it happen it does not mean this is unrealistic or not possible mechanic to include in the game. Only developers can make this happen and they only have the tools to make this idea into reality. I really like this idea because it would bring LIF into a new frontier of gaming and create something that has not been done in many open world MMORPGs. So i give you thumbs up :) :) :) and keep up the good job with new ideas for Life is Feudal.

I like the concept of having a dog as a fun aspect like menial things like petting it to make it happy. Playing fetch, being a companion. Not as an attack dog but maybe a bird dog hunting for birds and racoons. Which I think they should add racoons, squirrels and rabbits to the game. And not that they track and kill for you but as a fetch the animal once you've killed it, say playing fetch with your dog trains your dog to fetch the animal after a certain point. If someone kills your dog then it's going to really tick you off so I like it. But then there's the problem that everyone's going to want a dog and if everyone has a dog then it'll be kind of dumb, so I'd say make it very very hard to tame a wild dog. That way you'll appreciate the fella all the more if he becomes your pet.

Well at medieval times they didnt actually tame wolves into dogs they had some breeds of dogs for hunting and some for war like mastiffs to take down man from their horses and even kill unarmored people

Love, love, love this idea. Here's how I would like to see it implemented:
At level 90 in Animal Lore, OR, at level 0 in Dog Training, you can tame a Wolf into a Pet Dog that will follow you around.
Add a skill called "Dog Training." Using that skill, you can pet your dog (lvl 0), train it simple commands and tricks like Sit, Stay, Go Home, Fetch (for light objects) (lvl 30). At higher levels, you can train to to be a Hunting Dog (lvl 60), a Guard Dog (lvl 90), or an Attack Dog (lvl 100).
To regulate overuse of Attack Dogs, here are some ideas:

    1. Limit number of dogs in general, or Attack Dogs in particular, to 1 per player. (I personally don't like this idea. I think since there are no NPCs, we should be allowed to have unlimited dogs.)
    2. To train an Attack Dog, you have to be lvl 100 in Dog Training.
    3. You cannot command a dog that another person has trained...
    4. And/or, you cannot command a dog unless you are the same level required to train it.
    5. You can't convert any trained dog to another trained dog (i.e. you can't train a Hunting Dog to be an Attack dog).
    6. Dogs are high-maintenance; they eat a LOT of meat.

Other features that I would like:
-The dog reverts back to a wolf if you forget to feed it. Good idea, Stewbailey!
-You can name your dog. +1, wupang!
-If you are lost, and you have trained your dog Go Home, it will lead you home.

I am a dog lover and have trained several. FWIW. :)

Love the idea. but my two cents is... how about quality would affect it's domestication? lower quality "dogs" would have a chance of attaching the owner, or not obeying commands yet a 100 is a completely tame beast.

    just some food for thought
