A list of suggestions, for what its worth

10
Some of this stuff has been mentioned in other posts, but I'm going to mention them anyways..

Trading System
Personally I think this is the biggest thing this game is lacking. This would go a long way to enhancing late game play as well. Could add in a twist by adding items that can only be acquired through trade, like luxury goods or rare building supplies. I would also like to see trading via ship and ground. Makes sense when you have exhausted all the nearby stone and iron reserves, but you have 10,000 animal pelts lying around.

Religion
Considering that religion played such an important role in this era, I'd say this is another key area of the game. Could start with a simple shrine, that add bigger buildings that require permanent residents. This would put additional strain on resources for the gain of increased production (or whatever). Could also make a certain point where the residents care more about the fact that there is nowhere for them to worship then the fact that they are starving to death.

Government
Once you have carved a sizable settlement out of the woods, you could build government buildings. This could be used to efficiently organize labor and allow for trade, the building of defenses, upgrade religious buildings, etc.

Beasts of Burden
This would seriously be a mind blowing addition to this game. Could be treated like additional peasants and assigned to where ever you think they would do the most good. Could have horses, mules, and oxen with their own pros and cons. Send an expedition boat and they find mules, as opposed to milk cows, build a stable and assign them to work the fields. Also like the idea of a wheelwright to build wagons to haul additional goods around.

Food
I personally think that the more effort that goes into making a food item, the more nutritional value it should have. A meat pie should not be 1:1 to a potato, and therefore should last longer. Perhaps even quite a bit longer. That being said, the peasants should strive to balance their diet, and freak out if all they have is a single food. Really like the fact they die of scurvy if all they have is fish to eat.

Maps
I like the seashore idea, but I also agree that the single type of map thing could use an upgrade. Would like to see a map with a large river, or river sea combo. Could also have a forest only map, for those who really enjoy suffering

Really enjoying the game so far, keep up the good work

Yes, totally agree! Government should improve effectivness of production. In a small town you have a small office with a few citizens. A large town you can have several departments. Sheriff, foodproduction, housing etc.
