Several Improvement Suggestions

2
In the steam forums it seems quite a lot people have problems with food supply (including myself). It seems that quite some of these problems can be reduced to a couple mechanics that currently don't work very well.

1) It seems that fields work much much better when settlers are always assigned to them instead doing another job during winter. This is because the current house assignment mechanic is a bit wonky. Everytime we reassign jobs (or build new houses) the game seems to recalculate which villager lives where. This leads to quite some unnecessary long ways and farmers cannot finish their field by the end of autumn. (Along the problem that sometimes babies die when demolishing a house that would have been unecessary)
I think a good and simple solution to this would be more micromanagement. Three new buttons: One when selecting a villager to assign him to a new home. Two at houses, one to disable births at a specific house, one to disable automatic assignment to that house.

2) Wayfinding / Transport ways: Villagers should behave a bit more clever imho. I had it happen that all but 5 of my villagers died because of starvation. But the remaining 5 where not able to fish more food then they would have needed and so after another year all of them died too. I'm not entirely sure why this happens, but it seems that they prefer transporting things around in a fixed pattern instead using stuff.
Would be good if the transportion of goods would bring stuff to where it's needed (if it's not too much of a detour) instead bringing everything to the warehouse.
For example i watched a builder quite a while that was needing a couple stones to finish a building: He walked around half the map to the next marked stones, got 2 of them (but could have transported a couple more), walked to the warehouse, stored them, took them out of the warehouse, brought them to the building site. Sometimes he even stopped shortly before reaching the stone and walked back to his house. This shouldn't happen. If he's clever enough to build a house, he should be clever enough too eat before he's going on a long walk. He should be clever enough to bring the stones directly to the building site.

3) Birth rate: Not sure how this currently works, but it seems pretty unrealistic. Remember my story of the 5 survived villagers ? Only one was male but i had 10+ births within the next year. Imho the birth rate should simulate a family like behavior. Like births only in houses where a male and female live together. Only like 1 birth per female per year.
