I think there should be system where crates, barrels, bridges and similar things can‘t handle certain weights and get destroyed because of that. For example a Bark crate couldn‘t handle the weight of a human or you can only put three Normal crates over each other before they collapse, etc.
That would bring a whole new aspect for bridges, for example a simple bridge can carry a man but not a man on a horse.
