I'm a fan of the Cities Skylines game and they have a GREAT feature that allows one to import real world maps into their game as a terrain map. A similar feature here would make this game even that much better. The map import feature works with the TerrainParty.com website and one can basically pick any real world local and bring the terrain features into their game. Of course their game also includes a robust terrain map editor that allows additional customizing but even a basic import feature would be a great improvement here.
