Life is Feudal’s newbie island mechanics will be significantly different to the rest of the game, especially in: skillcap, free building/terraforming and survival. The goal is to let you get a feel for how the game works without putting pressure on you. Meaning: PvP is disabled on newbie island, so you’ll have to venture forth to unlock this feature. Let’s get started, and begin with skillcap.
More info on skillcaps at Skill and stat cap in the MMORPG like Ultima: Life is Feudal. Essentially, you have skillcaps of 600; raising your skills by using actions associated with the skill. On newbie island however, your skillcap is 150. To unlock the 600 skillcap, you have to build up some courage and leave the island. Terraforming and free building also feature distinctly different mechanics on newbie island.
In Life is Feudal, any change to the land is permanent. This means if you build a castle, it could stand there forever as long as it is maintained. For more info on this visit Best sandbox games: terraforming and free building. Newbie island however, does NOT feature permanent changes. The island resets every reallife week, so when you build something it won’t be there tomorrow. Newbie island is just there to let you get familiar with Life is Feudal’s game mechanics, another being hunger.
Life is Feudal features survival mechanics, and this is articulated at Survival mechanics of realistic MMORPG: Life is Feudal. To stay alive, your character has to eat. If you don’t eat, your character will begin to lose soft HP; passing out when their soft HP bar hits zero. You then wake up with five hunger points, and the process starts again.
On newbie island your hunger will never drop below five. This will slow your stamina regeneration, but at least you’ll be conscious. Once you’ve decided that you’ve spent enough time on newbie island, it’s time to leave. When you leave newbie island, you’ll be presented with a choice.
You can start the game: In the wilderness OR in Life is Feudal’s main central city. The main central city and newbie island are the only two places in Life is Feudal where PvP is disabled. The main city is a good place to start if you want to socialize or group up. If you choose wilderness, you will randomly spawn somewhere in Life is Feudal’s online world. Choose wisely.
In summary, take advantage of Life is Feudal’s newbie island. Get a feel for the controls, game mechanics and skills. Socialize, add friends and maybe even hit the 150 skillcap. But don’t linger too long: “nothing ventured, nothing gained”!
