Life is Feudal Minigames Training

Post by Arrakis » 26 Mar 2014, 02:28

Those who for different reasons don't have access to the server minigame and/or want just to practice in minigames on different difficulty level before playing on the server, you can test it in here: http://lifeisfeudal.com/flashgame/index.php

You can train a bit and then go into 'Marathon', compete with other users and try to earn the best score possible.

Or you can play it right here, but the right side of the game screen is a bit cut.

The trick is to basicly spam left+right arrow nearly simultaneously and as fast as humanly possible, while of course holding your mouse on the green area. After some practice I have no problem with finishing it every time.

These aren't going to be in the MMO are they?

Why wouldn't they? Of course these minigames will be in the mmo.

Well, for one, they have little to do with the skills they represent.

1. Blacksmithing: if you wanted to do something with blacksmithing then maybe make it more like real blacksmithing. Randomly following around a little circle trying to hit that area doesn't do anything, or show skill in any way.

2. stringing a bow: this shouldn't even be a minigame. There is no skill in stringing a bow (I have done it many times).

3. cutting down a tree. having a circle randomly and quickly circling a targeted tree is a bit silly. If you had the thing going semi circle on the one side of a tree, or the other side of the tree depending on where you pointer was, that would make more sense, but wildly swinging at either side of a tree would be just silly.

4. mining: again, the minigame has nothing to do with the skill at hand. Mining in general has little skill for swinging at the ore vein. More of the skill is in engineering the mineshaft/supports etc, but it wouldn't be too realistic to get into that level of management.

5: Construction materials prep: That minigame is just confusing, and the instructions need some help. If you are going to do something with cutting stone, maybe the use of a chisel to represent the point that you strike it, and try to shear material off. Even that would be a very time consuming process though, and not best suited to a game.

Overall, if you are going to add a bunch of random minigames to the MMO, it will make it tedious. If the YO game is anything like the MMO, there are already significant time sinks in skills that more aren't needed.
