If you attempt to add an animal using the gm commands /animal <xxx> <xxx>, and your server insta crashes. Verify that your animal count is set to a number > 0.
While performing various restore tasks over the last several days, I had set mine to 0. Later I attempted to spawn an animal.
Lesson learned.
I don't think this is really a bug, so not filing in mantis.
