[International] Sleepless Midnights |PVP|PVE|RP|Livemap - OLD CLAY & COPPER PROPERTIES!!

OUTDATED first post; please see more current posts for all the updates and development of the server!

Hello folks! Fresh, dedicated server ( hosted in Germany ) up looking to grow a solid community. All walks are welcome, be they oriented towards PvP, PvE, RP, or even a mix. We will do our best to accommodate all.

As of the date of this post, the server is completely uncivilized. At present the server is running the original map with the Umbrella add-on + Livemap ( https://livemap.feudal.tools/id/2155 ). The Nyu Island add-on may be added at a later date if more land-mass is desired. There are no rules save the following three;

1 - No griefing
2 - No monument destruction or excessive base destruction during judgement hour

2a - Wall breach ( large section ) and warehouse destruction is allowed without contacting admin
2b - All other buildings may be damaged ( NOT destroyed ) to access goods stored inside
2c - Further base destruction must be brought to the admin for official war scenarios; typically target buildings will be authorized for large conflicts

4 - No personal attacks through words

Those said, kill on sight is allowed, but continued harassment is not. Abuse of this will be at the GM's discretion. Roleplay is welcome, but as this is an international server, English must be used. Additional judgement hours may be added later on if desired. Alignment will also be reset as PvP is, as the title suggests, welcomed.

While PvP is welcomed, this is not a super fast skill server. Cooks and those who dedicate to be the best in their professions should be appreciated and sought out. We are set at x20 skill gain and everyone is welcome to do every profession as they should be with a maximum skill cap of 3000.

Additionally, OLD clay properties are enabled, meaning those of you who remember the classic base designs of the old days are welcome to get after it once more!

Once a solid player base is established, a market system and random events ( IE - merchant caravan laden with goods waylaid by rampaging bear waiting to be found, looted and either kept or turned in for reward ) will be announced!

Couple updates to the server to improve the overall experience.

- Tree growth doubled across the board.
- Deep clay pit added to the smaller island as a quality of life improvement for those wishing a little more isolation.

On a separate note, should ANY clay pit run dry they shall be refilled upon notification.

Another minor update to the server.

- Allowable height difference of rock face ( not to be confused with loose rock / mined rock ) to surrounding tiles substantially increased to allow dedicated base builders to really dig in to the side of mountains for a unique, imposing build.

That said, I also wanted to point out for those concerned; this server is here to be run indefinitely. Worry not about having your hard work lost on a whim.

With over a thousand hours in game years ago when the game released, I've found myself back at the gates of LiF:YO with the idea of revisiting what I consider the early glory days of YO. The days when you washed up on shore with nothing to your name but some rags on your back and a slimy fish to sustain you until you could carve out a piece of the untamed wilderness before you. Going back was not an option, only forward.

Do you yearn for the glory days? Don't wait; join up and let's revisit those days together; old clay properties included!

Not just another minor update...but a MAJOR update!

- 'Retrocopper'!

After excessive reading on the forums and what seemed an endless cycle of trial and error, classic copper properties have finally returned to LiF:YO, but only on Sleepless Midnights!

'Retrocopper' is yet another step towards bringing back the 'Classic' LiF:YO, which is exactly what Sleepless Midnights aims to do; provide a classic experience.

So what does this mean? It means that copper is once more registered as a 'common ore' and may be used to craft all but a few things in the world. Those few things that it CANNOT craft, as it could not in the classic days, include metal bands, metal sheets, and the hardened steel pickaxe. While there may be a couple other items it couldn't craft, memory does not recall.

BEFORE you get turned off to the idea, understand that one can play on the server WITHOUT 'Retrocopper', but they will be forced to play the game as normal; IE they will continue to have to make nails from iron rather than being able to also make them out of copper. The choice is ultimately yours.

Since LiF:YO does not sync client files with server files, it is unfortunate that one cannot activate the classic properties of copper without downloading the client-side files from the link below. All files are hosted at nexusmods, which scans the files itself to make sure they are completely clean. Files are provided to swap between modes.

- Clarified war rules for more intensive pvp groups.

- GuildGUI enabled for those who run the client-side version of it ( optional; guild management can be done on the livemap as well ).
- Construction of bridge to Nyu Island nears 50% completion.

Another MAJOR update, folks!

- New land added in the northeast; the Highlands!
- 'Red World' fixed; JH now works properly when hostile or at war.
- Inspect time lowered to 1 second; down from 2.
- New forest maintenance file uploaded for more diversity and quality.

- Any Slot Quivers.
- Classic Signal-fires.
- All optional modifications now available on the Sleepless Midnights discord server ( including 'Retrocopper' ).

Both listings are optional; the game will play normally without the above alterations. Any Slot Quivers is self explanatory, whereas the Classic Signal-fires allows one to once again turn their Signal-fires off.

Do it yourself instructions can be found on the Sleepless Midnights steam group; alternatively, pre-generated files are available for download on the Sleepless Midnights discord server; link also located on the Sleepless Midnights steam group.

MAJOR, major update.

- New land in the south and southwest; the Levee and Haven ( in order ).
- Updated the optional mod 'Retrocopper' for balancing purposes by popular demand.
CHANGES
- Removed the option to craft armor and weapons from copper due to no quality cap.
- Removed the option to craft metal bands and metal sheets from copper once more due to
their prominence in shields and ranged ammunition.
- Defined parameters for copper crafting; in addition to normal copper items, copper may be used to craft nails, tools ( except for the hardened steel pickaxe ), toolkits, lamps, locks, metal components, and anvils.
- Added gold and silver crafting for true ballers; parameters match those of copper.
- Re-added copper ore to the Iron Market in light of the 'Retrocopper' balance update.
- Updated livemap with graphical improvements for seamless transition between the original land and the new.
- Tweaked forest script further, breaking up 'biomes' to allow for better density and diversity.

Yet another intermediate to major update.

- Tradepost mod installed.
- Iron Hold, the server-protected PvE village, established; monument provided; players are free to decide how it develops.
- Sawmill ( currently only a cosmetic building ), added to 'Retrocopper'. Updated files provided on both Nexusmods and discord.
- Reorganized discord for better usability.

- 'Longhouse', found on newbie island in the MMO, added to the list of late game constructible buildings ( repackaged with Retrocopper ).
- Minor graphical tweaks for Retrocopper recipes.
- New bridge built to the island of 'Haven'.
- Updated livemap imagery.
- 'Map Refresh' conducted on most old, abandoned settlements; includes resource refresh.
- Multiple non-craftable outfits added to the Iron Market.

- Expanded functionality for the Sawmill ( still; hopefully ).
- One final landmass addition ( still currently unconfirmed ).
- Few more region refreshes to remove a few remaining abandoned settlements.

Another major update today, folks;

- 'Fish Drying Rack', found unused in the database, added to the list of early game constructible buildings ( repackaged with Retrocopper ).
- Further update applied to 'Retrocopper', providing multiple tailoring recipes for existing, previously non-craftable tailoring items.
- Expanded buy / sell options of the Iron Market ( server market ).
- Reduced uproot action time to 2; down from 5.
- Reduced stamina cost for 'Lower Ground Level' and 'Uproot'.
- Further 'Map Refresh' conducted on multiple old claims ( ruins ).

Coming soon;

- Expanded functionality for the Sawmill ( still; hopefully ).
- One final landmass addition ( still currently unconfirmed ).
- Port of the MMO 'Stonemason's Workplace' ( time permitting and barring no errors ).

Finally, another decent update!

- New land added in the east; Fjords! Final addition...finally!
- Livemap updated.
- Multiple old claims and their resources reset.
- Skill multiplier increased to 15x; up from 10x.
- 'Look for' action times reduced by half.
- Additional items added to the Iron Market upon request.

Moderate update today folks!

- Server memory upgrade!
- Market update, again; many new items to be sold and bought!
- Guild markets now viewable at any tradepost; ( server market remains only at primary tradepost ).
- Multiple old claims and their resources reset.
- Complete reset for the Levee ( beach area ); to include resources.
- Skill multiplier increased to 20x; up from 15x.
- Rule update!

- Events; to include the opening of ruins based off server lore, which doubles as a battleground to be fought over!
